Agriculture sector is the main source of livelihoods for approximately 80 percent of Liberia’s population. The sector plays an integral role in Liberia’s economic and social development as  it contributes significantly to employment, food security and household income. In 2016, the agricultural sector accounted for around 26 percent of the real Gross Domestic Product (GDP), approximately one third of which originates in the livestock sub-sectors.
