7.5g BCAAs, glutamine support, and Sustamine® without stimulants

APS Nutrition Chain'd Reaction is a straightforward amino drink with no stimulants. It's all about helping your workouts and recovery with a big dose of BCAAs, some glutamine for gut and recovery help, and enough sodium plus a special glutamine form to make it useful when you're really pushing it. In a world of complicated supplements, this one keeps it simple for sipping during or after training. The idea is to give you the aminos your body uses most around workouts, make it taste good, and skip the stimulants.

The main part is 7,500mg of BCAAs: L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, and L-Valine in the usual 2:1:1 ratio, which probably means about 3.75g leucine, 1.875g isoleucine, and 1.875g valine per serving. Leucine is the big deal here—it kicks off the mTOR pathway, which is like flipping the switch for building muscle protein. Studies show 2.5-5g of leucine really gets that going, and this hits that sweet spot. Isoleucine helps your muscles grab glucose for energy during exercise, and valine fights off that mental fatigue by competing with tryptophan in your brain. You won't feel a buzz like from stimulants; instead, your workouts feel more even, especially if you're training on empty, going long, or hitting a wall late in the session.

There's 2g of ultra-micronized, pharmaceutical-grade L-Glutamine. The fancy form helps it mix better and ensures quality, but dose is key. Research often looks at 5-15g a day for gut health and immune support during tough times. At 2g, it's not a full standalone dose, so think of it as sup

Key Highlights

  • 7,500mg BCAA complex—this is the heart of it, not just a tiny add-on. With the likely 2:1:1 ratio, you're getting around 3.75g of leucine, which is spot on for kicking off muscle building signals.
  • Leucine-heavy 2:1:1 ratio—the tried-and-true setup where leucine leads the way for growth signals, and isoleucine plus valine help with energy and fighting fatigue. It's still the go-to for fasted workouts or during sessions.
  • 2,000mg ultra-micronized L-Glutamine—not hyped as a muscle miracle, but solid for handling workout stress. It's fuel for your gut and immune cells, so it helps you stay tough more than directly packing on size.
  • Includes Sustamine®—they went with this branded L-alanyl-L-glutamine from Kyowa Hakko Bio, which is a step up from basic stuff you see in cheap BCAA drinks.
  • 120mg sodium for real hydration help—it's not a ton, but it makes a difference. Sodium keeps fluids balanced, nerves firing, and muscles working right, turning this into a better workout sip than plain aminos.
  • No stimulants on purpose—no caffeine crash or sleep issues. Great for late workouts, double sessions, or mixing with your pre-workout without extra buzz.
  • Made for during workouts or right after—the setup shines when you're training, recovering, or meals are off. It's that middle ground between water and a full shake.
  • Pharmaceutical-grade and ultra-micronized glutamine—form doesn't beat dose for results, but it shows they cared about quality and how well it mixes. That stuff matters in powders for taste and reliability.

Who Is This For?

  • Morning fasted trainers wanting aminos without caffeine. 7.5g BCAAs give a leucine boost mid-session, plus sodium and glutamine make it better than flavored water.
  • Cutters holding onto workout quality while dropping calories. BCAAs help during training and make long sessions less tough when food's low.
  • Evening lifters needing no-stim options. Gets you aminos and light hydration without messing sleep or recovery.
  • High-volume bodybuilders with pump sessions and short rests. The BCAA mix fits repeated sets and tension, where sipping nutrition helps more than buzz.
  • Team athletes with practices or doubles wanting light aminos between. Easy to drink during or after, with sodium and glutamine for ongoing stress.
  • Folks with a separate pre who skip overlapping stims or creatine. Slots in clean for amino and hydration focus.

How to Use

Mix 2 scoops with 16-24 ounces cold water and sip during training—that's the best way. Or take it right after if you like plain water while lifting. No stims, so no half-dose start needed, but smaller folks can try 1 scoop for taste and stomach check. Shaker's best for mixing since aminos can foam a bit. More water makes it tastier and amps the sodium for hydration. Fine on empty stomach—actually great for that—or with a light meal. Stack with creatine and full protein for all-around gains. No cycling since it's stim-free. Keep it sealed, cool, and dry for best powder and flavor.

What to Expect

First 0-10 minutes: Mix it up, start drinking, and it's clear this is for training support, not a stim rush—no heat or fake energy. 10-30 minutes: Hydration kicks in as you sip, and if you're empty or light on food, aminos make the workout feel less hollow. 30-60 minutes: Here's where it shines—sessions stay steady for volume, supersets, or long hauls when water alone quits. 60-90 minutes: No peak, but no drop either. First week: Better sticking to your drink and smoother recovery after. Weeks 2-4: It's about steady training quality where aminos count, not some big buildup.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many BCAAs are in APS Nutrition Chain'd Reaction per serving?

Each full 2-scoop serving provides 7,500mg of total BCAAs. Available product research suggests this is in a 2:1:1 ratio of leucine:isoleucine:valine, which would infer roughly 3.75g leucine and 1.875g each of isoleucine and valine.

Is Chain'd Reaction a pre-workout?

Not in the stimulant sense. It is better classified as a stim-free amino/intra-workout formula because it contains BCAAs, glutamine, sodium, and Sustamine®, but no caffeine or classic pre-workout stimulants.

Does Chain'd Reaction contain caffeine?

No. This formula is completely stim-free based on the verified panel, which makes it useful for evening training, fasted cardio, or stacking with a separate caffeinated pre-workout.

What does the 2g glutamine do in this formula?

The 2g glutamine is best viewed as supportive for recovery, gut integrity, and training-stress resilience rather than as a direct muscle-building dose. Standalone glutamine research is typically in the 5-15g range, so this is a supportive inclusion, not a fully clinical glutamine protocol by itself.

What is Sustamine® and why is it included?

Sustamine® is a branded L-alanyl-L-glutamine dipeptide from Kyowa Hakko Bio. It is a more specialized glutamine-related ingredient commonly used in hydration and recovery-oriented formulas, giving this product a more thoughtful support blend than generic BCAA powders.

When should I take Chain'd Reaction?

The best fit is during training mixed in water and sipped throughout the session. It also works post-workout, especially if you trained fasted or want a light amino bridge before your next full meal.

Can I stack Chain'd Reaction with my pre-workout?

Yes, and that is one of its strongest use cases. Because Chain'd Reaction contains no stimulants or creatine, it layers cleanly with a separate pre-workout while handling the amino and hydration side of the session.

Is this better than whey protein for muscle growth?

No, not as a replacement. Whey protein provides all essential amino acids and is a complete protein source, while this formula provides BCAAs plus supportive ingredients; it works best around training, not as a substitute for total daily protein intake.

Why does the label use a proprietary blend for the BCAAs?

This is an older-school formulation approach where the total BCAA amount is disclosed but the exact individual printed milligrams are not fully broken out on the panel. The total 7.5g is strong, but by modern transparency standards, a fully disclosed label would be preferable.

Is the sodium amount enough for hydration?

It helps, but this is not a dedicated electrolyte formula. The 120mg sodium makes the drink more functional during training than zero-sodium amino products, but athletes with very high sweat loss may still want a more robust hydration product.

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read
Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.

Slightly repetitive but I did love some things
Format: Kindle
I love this type of story. And omegaverse is one of my all time favorite genres. But there are a few things that pulled me out of my enjoyment while I was reading. It was repetitive at times as well as struggled with telling not showing. So we didn’t always feel like we were experiencing things with the main character. There were also some plot holes but they may still be answered in part 2. Now this isn’t to be said I didn’t enjoy parts of the story. I loved the almost instant love between Mila and Oliver. And how he started changing around her.
