It captures a crotch in the blank you can see the branching on the bottom face of the block. The grain should be very pretty near the intersection. Mesquite Block M1187 3.7" x 3.7" x 6.9" 3.2 lbs. This is a beautiful all-heartwood block of Texas-grown Mesquite. It captures a crotch in the blank -- you can see the branching on the bottom face of the block. The grain should be very pretty near the intersection. There also appears to be a bark inclusion associated with the smaller branch. This is a GREEN to partially air-dried blank, meaning that it still retains some of its original moisture from when it was a living tree. It has been well-sealed with Anchor Seal and is in the process of slowly drying. It was heat-treated to kill off any hungry critters that may have been burrowing inside. It was measured at 20% MC in August 2022. If you need a current moisture content, please message us and we'll check its status for you. There are cracks aplenty in this block as well as some complex grain around the crotch. We recommend it for an experienced turner who will fill the cracks with CA glue or epoxy. It has potential to produce an exceptional turning. About the Tree This Texas-grown Honey Mesquite tree was harvested in El Campo, Texas in July of 2022. It was cut down by the city for reasons unknown to us, and we were happy to help save the tree from a burn pile. It is possible that this tree was damaged by the Valentine's Day Freeze that Texas suffered in February 2021, which is when our state lost a lot of beautiful trees in an unusually deep and long freeze. |

Great oil and makes my engine run quieter
I noticed the engine running much quieter using this oil. The pour mouth is pretty unique for this brand, you can just open the interior cap, pull up the accordion neck and pour into the engine which provides better control over traditional wide mouth, thus less messy. This oil rarely goes on sale and is typically 1.5x to 2x more expensive than the more common US brands.

FRIENDLY REMINDER Don't overtighten the bolts
MUCH better than the cheap plastic OEM part, Just a reminder though, these thread into an aluminum block so be very careful to start them finger tight first, then evenly tighten both bolts to push the fitting into the chamber. If you don't, it will slightly misalign and you run the risk of stripping the threads. The one comes with the replacement o ring, and be sure to get some antifreeze on that seal prior to attempting to push it into the chamber. IT IS A TIGHT FIT, but that's what you want, so just be careful. You might also want an extra hose clamp on hand, as the one that came with this began to bend as it got tight, so I had to replace it for peace of mind. Overall, great product though.
