The MWC 500m Water-Resistant Divers Watch with Helium Escape Valve is part of MWC's elite range, offering superior durability and functionality for professional divers and challenging environments. This model, finished in covert non-reflective PVD steel, features an impact-resistant sapphire crystal and a scratch-resistant ceramic bezel. It is suitable for all settings, from office environments to extreme outdoor activities.

The movement is a high-quality 25-jewel Swiss Ronda R150 automatic with a hacking function for synchronization and a 40-hour power reserve.

The special matte black non-reflective PVD finish is often specified in procurement contracts for military and anti-terrorist units. This PVD process alters the steel's color at a molecular level, making it vastly superior to painted finishes that can fade or rub off. The PVD finish ensures the watch remains durable even under heavy usage, although it can be damaged by severe impacts or continuous abrasion.

Helium Escape Valve: Helium can penetrate a dive watch due to its small molecular size, even when the seals are intact. Saturation divers, who spend extended periods at great depths, may experience helium buildup inside the watch, creating internal pressure that can blow out the crystal or crown when unscrewed. The helium escape valve allows helium to escape during decompression, preventing damage.

Why Helium is Used: Helium is used in deep-sea diving because it does not have the negative effects that nitrogen does, such as nitrogen narcosis. It is used to replace nitrogen in most deep-sea mixed gas diving applications.

Usage: While most divers won't live in pressurized environments for extended periods, the helium valve is essential for deep dive watches like our 500M range to ensure the watch remains fit for purpose.

Benefits of Sapphire Crystal: Synthetic sapphire is the best material for watch crystals due to its strength and resistance to shattering and scratching. This makes it highly appealing to military and security personnel, police officers, and those with active outdoor lifestyles. Over 70% of our customers belong to these groups. While hardened mineral crystals are more durable than regular glass, they still don't match the durability of sapphire under adverse conditions. Sapphire crystals are heat-treated to remove internal stresses, making them even stronger. Interestingly, sapphire crystal is now used on the latest iPhones. Although more expensive, sapphire crystal is typically found on higher-end watches for these reasons.

Important reading for every working woman!
Format: Hardcover
Let me start by saying that this isn't a genre I am normally drawn to. I usually am a fiction reader, but a trusted friend recommended this book so highly that I felt I should give it a chance. I'm so glad I put aside my hesitation, as I really feel this is a book that every woman in the American workforce should read. It is a fascinating primer in how we got where we are, and how much effort it took to gain even our somewhat compromised equality. While the legal issues involved can be a little complex, Thomas does an excellent job of breaking them down into straightforward concepts. I also really appreciated her ability to make the whole process of moving a case up through the Court of Appeals and eventually to the Supreme Court come to life. For those of us who are not in the legal profession, this process can seem mysterious, but this book made it easy to understand. By clearly and patiently laying out the facts of each case, Thomas also gives the reader the opportunity to test their own assumptions and think through the logic of the cases for themselves. For me, it was a fascinating opportunity to weigh my assumptions about my political leanings against my intellectual analysis of the facts, and I often surprised myself. All in all, I think this is an important book, and also a surprisingly accessible and engaging one. You will feel smarter and much more informed after reading it. And if you are a woman, you may well also feel grateful for those brave women (and men) who fought and struggled to make your experience in the workplace fairer.

Like a real-life legal thriller. Especially if you're thrilled by the progress we've made.
Format: Hardcover
This book, while deeply researched and rigorous, is the opposite of legalese. Thomas's vivid, thoughtful, witty storytelling reveals the real (and courageous) people behind the cases that made employment discrimination law what it is today. It shows not just the impact of law on people, but the impact of people on law. These women's struggles (and those of the advocates at their side) are both infuriating and inspiring. (That was me on the subway yelling at the book, alternating between "WHAT THE HELL?!" and "YOU GO, IDA!") Read it on the train, read it on the beach; just read it. I have a zillion friends with spring birthdays, not to mention my mom (who came of working age during this gender-siloed Mad-Men-tastic era) and I'm buying it for every single one.

A serious read about a very relevant, non-fiction topic... not a light hearted read.
Format: Kindle
A serious non-fiction, not a leisurely novel... very detailed, lots of research went into this, and a lot to be learned from reading thru it.. an excellent education of all that leads up to our Supreme Court,... and serious relevance to the 60’s, 70’s, up to now.... for many women.

Entertaining read
Format: Kindle
I wanted to educate myself on some of the issues that are presented in this book. If you're looking for just factual case-law and supreme court decisions this is not the book you're looking for. This book presents the cases in a story and gives a lot of detail about what went on in the lives of the people involved in these lawsuits outside of the courtroom. The only thing that I wish would have been talked about in greater detail would be a more in-depth look at the opinions and reasons from the justices that were not voting in favor of the plaintiffs.
