1. What Xylocaine Spray is and what it is used for

The name of your medicine is ‘Xylocaine 10 mg Spray’. It is referred to as ‘Xylocaine Spray’ in the rest of this leaflet.

Xylocaine Spray contains a medicine called lidocaine. This belongs to a group of medicines called local anaesthetics.

Xylocaine Spray is a non-sterile solution used to numb (anaesthetise) parts of the body to reduce pain and reflex gagging:

  • During medical examination of the nose, throat, stomach or lungs requiring the insertion of viewing instruments
  • Minor procedures involving the nose and throat
  • After childbirth.
  • During treatment at the dentist.

 

2. What you need to know before you use Xylocaine Spray

Do not use Xylocaine Spray:

  • if you are allergic to lidocaine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
  • if you are allergic to any other local anaesthetics of the same class (such as prilocaine or bupivacaine).

 

You must not be given Xylocaine Spray if any of the above apply to you. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor, nurse, dentist or pharmacist before you are given Xylocaine Spray.

Warnings and precautions

Talk to your doctor, nurse, dentist or pharmacist before having Xylocaine Spray:

  • if you have any cuts, sores or ulcers in your throat, mouth or nose.
  • if you have a chest infection.
  • if you have epilepsy.
  • if you have heart problems such as a slow heart beat.
  • if you have very low blood pressure.
  • if you have liver or kidney problems.
  • if you have ever been told that you have a rare disease of the blood pigment called ‘porphyria’ or anyone in your family has it.

 

If you are not sure if any of the above apply to you, talk to your doctor, nurse, dentist or pharmacist before having Xylocaine Spray.

Other medicines and Xylocaine Spray

Tell your doctor or dentist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. This includes medicines that you buy without a prescription and herbal medicines. This is because Xylocaine Spray can affect the way some medicines work and some medicines can have an effect on Xylocaine Spray.

In particular, tell your doctor or dentist if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • Medicines used to treat an uneven heart beat (arrhythmia) such as mexiletine.

 

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or dentist for advice before you are given this medicine

Driving and using machines

  • Xylocaine Spray may affect you being able to drive or use tools or machines. This depends on where in the body Xylocaine Spray is used and how much is used.
  • Your doctor or dentist will tell you when it is safe for you to do these activities.

 

Xylocaine Spray contains ethanol and propylene glycol

  • This medicinal product contains small amounts of ethanol (alcohol), less than 100 mg per spray.
  • The banana flavouring in Xylocaine Spray contains propylene glycol. Propylene glycol may cause skin irritation.

 

3. How to use Xylocaine Spray

  • Xylocaine Spray will usually be given to you by a doctor or dentist. The dose that your doctor or dentist gives you will depend on the type of pain relief that you need. It will also depend on your age and physical condition.
  • Xylocaine spray is given using the nozzle supplied in the pack. Extra nozzles are also available separately in boxes of 50. Nozzles are single use only. The nozzles should not be re-used and should be disposed of immediately after use.
  • Appropriate measures should be undertaken to avoid cross contamination in a healthcare setting including undertaking hand hygiene prior to use, use of disposable gloves during administration, keeping the box of 50 nozzles closed between procedures and ensuring disposal of each nozzle after use.
  • If you are given Xylocaine Spray to take home, you must use the dose recommended by your doctor or dentist. Always use Xylocaine Spray exactly as your doctor or dentist has told you. You should check with them if you are not sure.
  • Do not use more than 20 sprays in any single procedure.
  • You should use as few sprays as possible.
  • Do not get the spray in your eyes.
  • The spray nozzle is bent so that it works properly. Do not try to change the shape of the nozzle or it might break.

 

How to use Xylocaine Spray in the mouth and throat

  • Take care when eating or drinking following application of Xylocaine spray to the mouth or throat. When Xylocaine Spray is used in the mouth and throat it causes a loss of feeling. This makes it more likely that food or liquid may go down the wrong way. Also, this may make it difficult to swallow or cause some people to accidentally bite their tongue or cheek.
  • Xylocaine Spray should be used with care in older people, in people who are in poor general health and in children.

 

If you use more Xylocaine Spray than you should

If you think you have used more Xylocaine Spray than you should, talk to your doctor or dentist immediately.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects although not everybody gets them.

Severe allergic reactions (rare, may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):

If you have a severe allergic reaction, tell your doctor immediately. The signs may include sudden onset of:

  • Swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat. This may make it difficult to swallow.
  • Severe or sudden swelling of your hands, feet and ankles.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Severe itching of the skin (with raised lumps).

 

Other possible side effects:

  • Irritation where Xylocaine Spray has been used.
  • Feeling nervous.
  • Feeling dizzy.
  • Feeling sleepy.
  • Loss of consciousness.
  • Sore throat.
  • Hoarse voice or loss of voice.
  • Low blood pressure. This might make you feel dizzy or light-headed.
  • Fits (seizures).
  • Difficulty breathing or slow breathing.
  • Slow heart beat.
  • Stopped breathing or a stopped heart beat.

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, nurse, dentist or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard or search for MHRA Yellow Card in the Google Play or Apple App Store. By Reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.

5. How to store Xylocaine Spray

  • Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the bottle after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
  • Do not store above 25°C. At temperatures below 8°C the spray solution may start to go solid. This will dissolve when the spray solution is warmed up gently to room temperature.
  • The nozzles should not be re-used and should be disposed of immediately after use.
  • Your doctor/dentist or the hospital will normally store Xylocaine Spray. The staff are responsible for the storing, using and disposing of the spray in the correct way.
  • Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. These measures will help to protect the environment.

 

6. Contents of the pack and other information

What Xylocaine Spray contains

The active ingredient is lidocaine. Each dose (one spray) contains 10 mg of lidocaine.

The other ingredients are ethanol, levomenthol, macrogol 400, essence of banana (contains propylene glycol), saccharin and purified water.

What Xylocaine Spray looks like and contents of the pack

Xylocaine Spray is a clear or almost clear slightly coloured (pale pink or pale yellow) solution in a clear glass bottle with a spray pump closure. Each bottle contains 50 ml solution equivalent to about 500 sprays.

Each pack contains a single use CE-marked medical device (nozzle).

Additional spray nozzles are available separately as a pack of 50 nozzles.

Best Frother on the Market.
With the absolute highest speed and power for a frother, this is the best frother on the market, but this model, the MF06 has three features that are great improvements over previous models. 1. LED reading of the speed setting and battery life remaining. 2. One-button stop. This is huge! Other frothers require me to cycle through the speeds 'till I get to the "off" or zero speed. This means when my coffee is at the edge almost overflowing, I have to speed-up to shut-off! Not so with this frother. 3. A loop attachment that is perfect for mixing with minimal frothing. Costumer service is excellent, highly responsive, and human! Their 2- year warranty is for real. This is my third frother with this company. The first one (an earlier model) burned out and they replaced it. Twice! They replaced the second one with an upgraded model (MF05). It worked much better, but this model, the MF06 is a slimmer design, better attachments, more features, and without a doubt, the best I the market! Highly recommend.

My third FoodVille frother in six years and this one is the best!
Apparently I have a long running relationship with milk frothers. Looking back at my Amazon orders, this is my third FoodVille frother since 2020, and they have all been part of my daily coffee routine. I make two mochas every morning, so these things get used a lot. This new MF06 model has been in daily use for about three weeks now, and it’s easily the best version I’ve owned. The biggest improvement is the adjustable speed control. Earlier models were basically one speed and you either got foam or a small milk tornado. With this one you can start slow and then increase power depending on what you’re mixing. It actually gives you control instead of just maximum blast. Things I like after using it every day: • 9 speed settings make it much more versatile • Strong motor that creates thick foam quickly • Rechargeable battery with USB-C, so no dealing with AA batteries • Battery indicator so you know when it needs charging • Multiple whisk attachments for different uses • Stand keeps everything organized on the counter The foam is thick and creamy enough that my homemade mochas now look like something from a coffee shop instead of something made by a half-awake human at 6 AM. I’ve also used it for mixing protein powder and hot chocolate, and the lower speeds help avoid splashing. The stand does take up a little counter space, but I personally like having everything organized instead of digging around in a drawer for the attachments. For around the $20 to $25 range, this has been a great little kitchen tool. After several years and multiple versions, this is the best FoodVille frother I’ve owned so far, and it gets used every single morning. What gives me confidence recommending it is that this is my third FoodVille frother since 2020, and each version has improved on the last. If you make coffee drinks at home, this is a great little tool to have.

Unbelievable power in such a tiny device.
I absolutely can't believe how well this device works for frothing milk, mixing coffee or powders into liquids, beating eggs, or anything else you can think of. Of course, you need to realize you're not making heavy batters like pancake batter with it, but for regular liquids, it's incredible. The speed at which it operates is unreal. If turned up too high and there's not enough space in your cup, the liquid spills over because it's so quick. If you're looking for a milk frother like this and don't buy it from this company, you're missing out. The power and size are just right. The shape is ergonomic, fitting the curve of your hand, making it very comfortable to hold. It's extremely versatile. I've used it with eggs, powders—like chocolate milk—and anything else I can think of. It's rechargeable, and its milk frothing ability is faster than I can describe. It's also very sturdy. It doesn't have any plastic pieces on the accessories that can break, unlike other frothers with plastic parts on the accessories that can be cracked or damaged. It's almost like one of those mini hand mixers your mom used to use—just straight metal, no plastic that can break. Just for clarification the device is made of plastic, I'm just speaking specifically about accessories like the frothers, powder mixer or hook, and the milk frother spring itself. It even comes with a stand to keep everything together on your counter. The battery is large for a small device, so it lasts between charges—I don't think I've had to recharge it yet. Just in case you don't have one, it also comes with a USB C charging cable. The battery's percentage is displayed on a digital screen, so you know exactly how much power is left. You don't need to buy batteries; it's already built-in and rechargeable. Plus, it comes from a company that stands behind its product, offering a 2-year warranty once you easily register online. I had a small issue when I first received the product, but the company replaced it quickly. All of this costs around $25. I recently started having some trouble with my hands because I'm getting older, and it's helped tremendously with small tasks I need to accomplish. It's an absolutely amazing product for the price. I also made a nice video for this review but Amazon wouldn't let me load it for reasons unknown.

The BEST frother available, you will love it too!
I have an earlier model that is still really good and this one is even better. I didn't know it was possible, but Foodville has outdone themselves with this model. I love the led blue digital display at the top that shows the speed selected, and % remaining charge; there are seven speeds and I have not even gotten past the third speed. The first push of the power button, simply illuminates the blue digital display, and speed of zero; the next push shows 1, as the unit powers on and every push after increases the speed. The off button, above the on button, when pushed shows zero, and the unit spins down. It is really nice to see the confirmation that it is off, as it spins down. The amazing part is the length of charge. I have been using it for weeks and it is still over 80% charge, and the handle is still slender, not like others that get larger as capacity increases. This one is slender, lightweight and so powerful. The stand not only holds the frother, but the accessories too. I have used the whisk to scramble eggs and it does a very credible job. I can't say enough good about this frother/mixer, but it is the best I have used and I have several. The company is known for their outstanding warranty and customer service. I use speed one or two for frothing and the third speed can sometimes risk such action as to spin the mix over the rim of my frothing pitcher, so it really means business. Buy it, you won't regret it and will never want or need another. It's just the best!

Excellent product, excellent customer service, reasonable price
FoodVille has done it again, creating another great milk frother. This is the third FoodVille frother I've owned, the first two being MF02 models. After wearing my first one out after years of use, I purchased my second MF02 about a year ago, and it's still going strong. However, when I learned they had a new and improved model, I decided to buy it to try it, even though my second one still works great. The MF06 is a definite improvement, with the attachments now being all metal to avoid the potential for breakage when removing them repeatedly, the addition of the digital battery life and speed display, an improved stand, and nine versus three speed settings. There was one thing I had to quickly get used to, and that is the separate on/off button. On my last FoodVille milk frother, there were three speeds, and each speed had only one button that turned it both on and off. This MF06 has one button that controls the speed setting and one button that turns it off. The first few times I used it, I forgot about the separate off button and hit the speed button again (like with the previous one), turning it up higher instead of turning it off, causing my coffee to overflow from the cup. That isn't a design flaw, just a different design that I'm now accustomed to. Honestly, the three speeds were already plenty strong and effective for my purposes, but having nine is just an improvement, since I'm sure some people use this for more than just coffee. I use mine to blend powdered creamer and protein into almond milk before adding coffee, and the MF06 is very effective at getting it blended as smoothly as I want it. Also, I've now been using the new model for six weeks, and even with the battery power being around 75%, I haven't noticed much, if any, decrease in its power and effectiveness, and I haven't had to recharge it yet. The only reason I'm giving it four instead of five stars is one change in the design that I don't like, which is the angled head where the digital display is. While many people may love the stand that comes with this product, I personally don't have room for it and don't use it, and I cannot set this frother on the end of its handle to act as a base like I do with the MF02. If I wanted to leave it sitting on the counter, it won't stand upright on its end unsupported, so I would be forced to use the stand if I didn't have a specific storage container set in a wire metal basket on the counter where this will rest at an angle between two canisters and against the side of the basket. Changing the angled end on the handle to a flat end that will stand upright would be my only recommendation if/when FoodVille decides to update this product again. I also have to say that one reason I chose to order the MF06 when I didn't really need a new milk frother yet is that their customer service has been amazing. The first product I bought from them years ago had some sort of issue shortly after I got it (I don't even remember now what it was), and Elisa very promptly addressed the issue and resolved my problem with excellent communication. When a plastic component on an attachment on the older model broke, she promptly sent me a replacement. For me, FoodVille has delivered high quality products and excellent customer service, honors their warranty, and seems very interested in customer feedback to help them improve their products. For reviewers who said they had an issue shortly after buying it and gave a low rating, I suspect they didn’t even try to contact FoodVille for a replacement, because they honor their warranty beyond Amazon’s 30 days.
