TorCalvano Nobile di Montepulciano 2018 is een klassieke rode Toscaanse wijn van Prugnolo Gentile, de lokale Sangiovese kloon van Montepulciano. De druiven komen van het TorCalvano Gracciano estate in de gemeente Montepulciano, op ongeveer 350 m hoogte. Door 20 maanden rijping in grote Slavonische eikenhouten vaten krijgt de wijn meer verfijning, structuur en diepte, terwijl de stijl elegant en fris blijft. Nobile di Montepulciano werd al in 1685 door Francesco Redi beschreven als “de koning van alle wijnen”, een historische verwijzing die goed past bij de statige herkomst van deze DOCG.

Wijngaarden en regio

TorCalvano komt uit Montepulciano, in het zuiden van Toscane, waar Sangiovese al eeuwen een hoofdrol speelt.

• Ligging / Herkomst: De druiven komen van wijngaarden op het TorCalvano Gracciano estate, in de zone Gracciano binnen de gemeente Montepulciano. Dit gebied ligt in de provincie Siena, tussen de Valdichiana en de Val d’Orcia.

• Hoogte: De wijngaarden liggen op ongeveer 350 m hoogte. Die ligging helpt om rijpheid, frisheid en aromatische spanning in de druiven te combineren.

• Aanplantdichtheid: De wijngaarden zijn aangeplant met 4.000–5.000 stokken per hectare. Die plantdichtheid ondersteunt een beheerste groei en een goede concentratie in het fruit.

• Opbrengst: De opbrengst ligt gemiddeld rond 7 ton druiven per hectare, met een wijnrendement van ongeveer 65%. Dat past bij een stijl waarin balans, elegantie en tanninestructuur belangrijk zijn.

Druivensamenstelling

• Prugnolo Gentile – Montepulciano: Wat is Prugnolo Gentile? Prugnolo Gentile is de lokale Sangiovese kloon van Montepulciano en geeft deze wijn zijn rode fruit, florale aroma’s, frisse zuren en verfijnde tanninestructuur.

Vinificatie en rijping

De vinificatie is gericht op klassieke Toscaanse structuur, met lange rijping op groot hout.

• Vergisting: De wijn vergist in roestvrijstalen tanks bij een gecontroleerde temperatuur van 26–28 °C. Het schilcontact duurt minimaal 15 dagen, waardoor kleur, aroma en tannines zorgvuldig uit de druiven worden gehaald.

• Rijping / Houtopvoeding: De wijn rijpt 20 maanden in Slavonische eikenhouten vaten van 35 hl. Groot Slavonisch eiken geeft verfijning, ronding en structuur, zonder het fruit te zwaar met hout te kleuren.

• Flesrijping: Na de houtrijping rijpt de wijn minimaal 6 maanden op fles. Daardoor krijgt de tanninestructuur meer zachtheid en komt de elegante stijl van Prugnolo Gentile beter samen.

• Bewaarpotentieel: TorCalvano Nobile di Montepulciano heeft een bewaarpotentieel tot 15 jaar. De combinatie van Sangiovese zuren, houtopvoeding en tannines geeft de wijn genoeg basis om zich verder te ontwikkelen.

Deze Nobile di Montepulciano heeft delicate, florale en verfijnde aroma’s. De smaak is evenwichtig en elegant, met frisse spanning en een fluweelachtige tanninestructuur. De afdronk blijft soepel, verfijnd en lang.

Simple and Straightforward Wrist Rest
Size: 60% Compact
There's not much to write home about here other than it suits the purposes I purchased it for. This accompanies my K629-RGB Redragon keyboard. It lines up pretty well with the keyboard, and the rest itself makes a nice incline between my desk surface and the keyboard. The padding isn't too plush and is pretty good at providing wrist support. It's also been very good at holding its shape despite the pressure that my wrists have put in the same spot over the last few months; the padding is even across the entire wrist rest as a result. I've noticed that my hand doesn't cramp as much when typing for long periods of time with this rest, so it's doing exactly what I would expect for the ergonomics of my keyboard. One downside is that it's prone to develop sweat marks where you rest your palms. It can't really be wiped away, given that it gets absorbed over time. I would say that if you are concerned with the appearance of the product, you may want to look into a plastic rest instead. I personally don't find this to be much of an issue since the pad is black, and you can only see the marks at certain angles, but I can understand if that's a dealbreaker for some. Otherwise, the rest of the pad is easily cleaned. I usually use a handheld vacuum to tackle dust and crumbs that stick onto the sides and bottom of the pad. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who has a compact keyboard without a built-in hand rest. The pad is perfectly sized for my needs and provides the support that I need for my work. If you're hesitant about dealing with a product that may stain, look into plastic wrist rests instead.
