Bollen uitplanten
Tussen oktober en december kun je bloembollen in de tuin uitplanten (scroll verder voor een video hierover!). Wacht met tulpen tot na half oktober, dan heb je minder kans op tulpenvuur dat de bollen aantast. Die ziekte wordt minder naarmate het kouder wordt. Plant de bol altijd twee keer zo diep als dat ze groot is, anders kunnen ze niet goed genoeg wortelen waardoor de steel tijdens de bloei zal gaan hangen. Maak een gat met een bollenpoter en zet de bol met het puntje naar boven in het gat. Verbeter de bodem eventueel met een klein handje kleimineralen, daardoor zullen bollen beter aanslaan. Houd tussen de bollen een afstand aan van een duimdikte als je ze na de bloei gaat verwijderen. Houd vijf centimeter afstand aan als je de bollen er (voor altijd) in laat zitten.

Bollen in pot
Afhankelijk van de grootte van de pot kun je bijna alle bloembollen ook in potten zetten. Maak een combinatie als een bollenlasagne waarbij je begint met de laat bloeiende soort en eindigt met de vroegst bloeiende soort. In pot kun je bollen strak tegen elkaar aan zetten, zo krijg je een lekker volle pot. Zorg dat het water altijd goed weg kan lopen, bollen mogen niet te nat staan in de winter, dan worden ze zacht en lopen slecht uit. 

Bloei
Bloembollen laten soms al in december hun gezicht zien. De eerste puntjes komen dan al boven. Dat is geen enkel probleem en je hoeft er niets tegen te doen. Zodra het hard vriest wordt de groei vertraagd en de bloembollen hebben juist kou nodig om goed te groeien.

Base seemed nice coming out of the box. Good size, though double check it will work for your needs as my mistake it was just a bit too big. Filled with water, it is a decent base to utilize with an umbrella I feel. Not sure if others' bases had this, too, but mine has some kind of object rolling around the side. No way to get it out. Not sure if when the hole is drilled into the top, it's from that? Also, when filling with water, there were unpleasant fumes coming out. Water mixing with the rubber material on the inside? All that said, for the price, this is a good option to consider for an umbrella base.
