Het was in 2008 dat Hallo Venray het opmerkelijke idee gestalte gaf hun nieuwe liedjes in twee versies uit te brengen: akoestisch en elektrisch. Twee keer twaalf liedjes samengebracht op de dubbel-cd Leather on My Soul. ‘We namen de akoestische versies wel, zoals bedoeld, in één take op. Echt als een soort demo’s. Alles tegelijk, what you see is what you get. Voor de elektrische versies gingen we de studio in en deden, zoals altijd, eerst de muziek en dan de zang’, aldus frontman Henk Koorn. Leuk zo, een dozijn nieuwe Hallo Venray-liedjes in twee versies. Maar toen eind vorig jaar het idee ontstond om Leather on My Soul voor het eerst op vinyl uit te brengen was een dubbel-lp geen optie. Er moesten keuzes gemaakt worden. De band selecteerde hun favorieten. En zo werd het een enkele plaat met een elektrische en een akoestische kant. Even lekker rocken op kant 1. Dan gaat op kant 2 ineens het roer om en is het tijd voor bezinning. En speciaal voor het vinyl opnieuw gemasterd.
