SME 3010-R Vintage HIFI High Quality Audiophile Turntable Tonearm

The SME 3009 was first introduced in the early 60's. It became a very popular tonearm, and is still highly regarded and sort-after by turntable enthusiasts all over the world!

The manufacture of SME 3009 Series II Precision Pick-up Arms ended in 1972. In response to many requests to reintroduce them for professional and enthusiast hi-fi application SME  produced the Models 3012-R, 3010-R and 3009-R. They are basically similar to their classic predecessors but with important refinements. This sale is for the 3010-R.

Crafted from thin-walled stainless steel, the 3010-R features a new design balance system with longitudinal and lateral fine adjustment. 

Optimised for 12” records, this tonearm offers exceptional geometry for accurate tracking. Manufactured primarily for the Japanese turntable market, it delivers outstanding performance and reliability.

Similar to the SME 3009-R Tonearm but with a longer length, and akin to the SME-3012-R Tonearm with an even longer reach, the SME 3010-R stands as a testament to precision engineering and unmatched quality in audio playback.


Condition:

  • This is a used unit. 

  • Physically this unit is in great condition for its age. It shows some light wear from use and age. This includes some light scuffs and slight signs of oxidisation. Nothing major. There is nothing which detracts from the use or sound of this beautiful tonearm.

  • This tone arm has been tested and is working very well!  

  • The SME 3010-R is definitely for people who are experienced with turntables and setting up tone arms. This is because this unit is delicate and require fine precision to set up. We will not be able to remotely help with set up or installation. So please ensure you are confident before purchase or have a technician who can install it for you. (If you are able to visit our store in West Gosford, NSW we could help with set up) 

  • This sale is for the tonearm pictured and the plate screws. Nothing else, nor any other parts are included in this sale.

  • This tonearm does not come with a wiring loom. You will need  1 x high quality stereo RCA cable and 1 x high quality earth wire. If you are unsure, please get in touch.

Glowy but not sure about the spf

My first impression was that this works more like a basic body shimmer than anything else. The Glistening Bronze shade gives a noticeable glow, especially on arms and shoulders. It spreads easily and adds a warm shimmer in the light, but the overall effect feels pretty simple and more cosmetic than skincare focused. In use, the oil blends in smoothly and feels lightweight on the skin. It does leave a bit of moisture behind, similar to a light body oil, and the shimmer shows up well outdoors. The bronze tone is fairly deep, so it seems better suited for medium to darker skin tones or anyone who wants a stronger bronzed glow. The product mentions SPF 45, but there is very little information about the sun protection side of it, so I personally treat this more like a shimmer oil than a sunscreen. Overall, this is fine if you are mainly looking for a body shimmer that adds glow and a bronzed look. It does the job of giving skin a subtle shine and a bit of hydration, but it does not stand out as anything particularly special. I would recommend it mostly for people who want a simple shimmering body oil rather than relying on it for sun protection.

This Oil Definitely Glitters!

I really wanted to love this shimmer oil, but it's unfortunately not my favorite. I love that it has SPF! That is a big win for me! The oil is also very good at hydrating my skin, which I appreciate. My problem comes with the shimmer of the product. The glitter in it is too big for my liking. With it being called a shimmer oil, I expected tiny glitter that softly shimmers like shimmer powders, lotions, and oils usually do. But this stuff glit-ters! And because it's bigger sized glitter, it's a lot easier to see when it gets all over everything like clothes, furniture, spouses and children. If the shimmering glitter in this was just smaller and softer, I would love this for summer time to use on my legs and arms. But it's unfortunately just not my favorite and I don't think I'll be using it anymore.
