About
YU CHANG @yuchang106 is a Taipei-based photographer and graffiti artist, born in 1989.
His photographic journey began as a way to document his own graffiti. To avoid having his images checked by the police, he started shooting on film. Through that process, he discovered the deeper appeal of photography—and soon began photographing not only the graffiti scene, but also moments from his everyday life.
“It was only after developing these images in the darkroom—of the city’s absurd people and moments—that I realized I was also part of what I had photographed.”
somnambulate taipei is the artist’s debut photobook. Across 87 pages, it captures the raw and underground scenes of Taipei—intimate, chaotic, and deeply personal.
All images were printed by YU CHANG himself in the darkroom, making this book not only a photographic record, but also a carefully crafted collection of darkroom prints—something to be experienced as a print-focused photo book.
This is a rare signed copy, difficult to find elsewhere.
