The NANIWA Super Stone (New Ceramics) series is a Japanese sharpening stone designed to deliver a smooth, “natural stone-like” sharpening feel while maintaining consistent synthetic performance.
Unlike conventional whetstones that feel scratchy or overly hard, this series provides a softer, more refined sharpening sensation that closely resembles traditional natural Japanese stones. This allows for controlled sharpening with minimal deep scratches on the blade surface.
The stone uses WA abrasive grains combined with a specially formulated bonding structure, which is the key to its unique “smooth sharpening feel.” Only a small amount of water is needed to start sharpening, making it easy and convenient to use.
It is suitable for a wide range of applications, from kitchen knives to woodworking tools such as chisels and plane blades. The fine grit options also make it ideal for high-level finishing work, including mirror polishing and aesthetic blade finishing.
Available in a wide grit range from coarse (#220) to ultra-fine (#10000), supporting everything from shaping to final polishing.
The series is available in two thickness options: 10 mm and 20 mm mounted stones with a plastic base.
