Deze 1961 Les Paul SG Standard Reissue with Bigsby in Cherry Red VOS is een eerbetoon aan een van de meest ingrijpende en gedurfde momenten in de geschiedenis van Gibson. In 1961 maakte de Les Paul plaats voor wat later zou uitgroeien tot een icoon: de SG. Deze reissue vangt perfect de spirit, looks en het rauwe, open karakter van die oorspronkelijke “Les Paul SG” periode.

Deze gitaar maakt deel uit van de Limited Edition Collection: een exclusieve reeks instrumenten die voortkomt uit jarenlange Made to Measure aanvragen en het vakmanschap van de Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville. Vintage-correcte specificaties worden hier subtiel gecombineerd met verfijningen die hem ook voor de hedendaagse speler bijzonder aantrekkelijk maken.

De body is vervaardigd uit één stuk massief mahonie en heeft het kenmerkende SG-ontwerp met diep uitgesneden hoorns en een heerlijk licht gewicht. De Cherry Red VOS nitrocellulose lak ademt pure early-sixties vibe en geeft de gitaar die authentieke, licht verouderde uitstraling. De Bigsby B5 vibrato voegt niet alleen expressieve mogelijkheden toe, maar ook een flinke dosis vintage flair. In combinatie met de ABR-1 brug met nylon zadels levert dit een soepele stemming, stabiele intonatie en die herkenbare klassieke Gibson-toon.

De mahonie hals is met een long tenon in de body gelijmd, wat zorgt voor extra sustain en resonantie. Het Authentic 1961 voelt snel en comfortabel aan, precies zoals je van een vroege SG mag verwachten. De palissander toets is enkel gebonden en voorzien van 22 medium jumbo frets en verouderde celluloid trapezium inlays. Met een 12” radius en een 1.687” topkam voelt alles meteen vertrouwd. Details als de nylon topkam en Kluson® Deluxe stemmechanieken maken het plaatje helemaal af. Een bijzonder fraai detail is de kop, afgewerkt met het Gibson logo en kroon-inleg in parelmoer, wat zorgt voor een elegante en authentieke uitstraling.

Elektronisch is deze SG uitgerust met een set Custombucker Alnico 3 humbuckers, ongepot voor maximale dynamiek, openheid en vintage bite. De zebra bobbins en True Historic nikkel covers versterken de klassieke look. De traditionele 2 volume / 2 tone-configuratie, met CTS potmeters en een Switchcraft 3-weg schakelaar, biedt betrouwbare en intuïtieve controle. Zwarte Top Hat knoppen met zilveren inserts en dial pointers, samen met zwarte kunststof onderdelen en achterplaten, maken deze reissue visueel helemaal af.

so elegant but best for softer foods

I am impressed with this gold silverware. I was surprised because they are very light, but they are also elegant. The handles are a little longer than the usual plasticware, so holding them, using them to eat, made me feel like the meal was elevated. These would be perfect at a garden party, a brunch, a fancy picnic. I love that there are equal numbers of knives, forks, and spoons, and they would look beautiful at place settings, or just tossed into glasses for people to grab what they need. My one misgiving about recommending these for any occasion is the knife. It’s just not sharp, and like the other pieces, it is lightweight. It’s great for spreading butter onto a roll and could cut through soft foods like pasta or cake. But any attempt to cut through a piece of meat or a starchy vegetable that’s just lightly cooked will result in the knife snapping in half. But if you’re serving relatively soft foods (brunch would be perfect!), then this is an elegant, easy solution to feed a lot of people while keeping cleanup to a minimum.

Fancy enough for a wedding, easy enough for a backyard party

I picked up this 300 Pack Premium Heavy Duty Gold Plastic Silverware set for a recent gathering, and honestly it worked out better than I expected. When you’re hosting a larger group, the last thing you want to worry about is running out of utensils or washing a mountain of dishes afterward, and this set definitely helped with that.
