Nagura Stone & Stone Fixer
There are two essential accessories necessary to maintain the quality of a whetstone: the Stone Fixer and the Nagura Conditioning Stone.
Stone Fixer
Maintaining a flat surface on a whetstone is crucial for effective knife sharpening, as a concave surface can hinder sharpening results. Use a Stone Fixer to flatten the surface of your whetstone, ensuring you can sharpen your knife evenly for a consistent edge. Our stone fixer is compatible with all types of water stones and ensures proper maintenance for long-term use.
Nagura Conditioning Stone
The Nagura Stone is a small conditioning stone used to optimize the sharpening surface of a whetstone. It removes excess micro metal particles that build up during frequent use and creates a slurry that refines the sharpening surface for a more precise edge. It is highly recommended for use with polishing and fine stones to achieve superior results.
Grit Descriptions
- #200, #220, and #400 grit ("Arato" Coarse) - Best for repairing damaged and very dull knives. Very abrasive and removes a lot of material.
- #1000 grit ("Nakoto" Medium Stone) - Used regularly for routine sharpening.
- #3000 grit ("Nakoto Shiage" Medium & Fine Finishing Stone) - Ideal for creating a sharp, polished edge and maintaining blade sharpness.
- #6000, #8000, and #10000 grit ("Shiage" Fine Finishing Stone) - Best for achieving a refined and ultra-sharp edge.
