This is a gorgeous original work on amate paper. Though there are a number of Mexican artists who are doing this type of work, Ramirez is one of the top ones around. These works are watercolor and ink and measure around 23 x 15" (57 x 37cm).

The tiny Mexican village of San Pablito, found in the mountains of Puebla, has been making amate bark paper for centuries. When the Spanish banned the paper in Mexico because it was being used for magic and witchcraft, the remote town was one of the few places to preserve the traditional craft. Today, the artisanal paper is highly prized by Mexican folk art enthusiasts.

The paper is made by stripping the bark from a wild fig, nettle or mulberry tree—each tree provides a different tone, ranging from brown to white. The bark is cleaned and dried before it is placed in a pot of boiling water for seven to eight hours. After boiling, the bark is rinsed in clean water and the craftspeople beat the bark using a stone against a wooden board. The paper is sometimes dyed or decorated with flowers or other items.

Before the arrival of Spanish colonizers to Mexico, amate paper was used extensively by the Aztecs. Because of its connection to indigenous religious practices, it aroused suspicion in the conquering Spanish settlers. Thousands of amate manuscripts were destroyed after the invasion, and the use of amate paper was banned because it was deemed to encourage witchcraft.

By the 20th century, the knowledge of how to produce the paper was only being maintained in a few small towns hidden in the mountainous regions of the states of Puebla and Veracruz. The survival of the tradition has always been closely linked to its ritual use and to this day, residents of the village of San Pablito, who speak a dialect of Otomi and learn Spanish as a second language, still believe that amate paper has mystical powers.

The shamans preserved the tradition of paper-making throughout the period when it was prohibited in Mexico. When foreign academics began studying the use of the paper in the mid-20th century, shamans began producing it commercially and there was an explosion of interest in the topic. Mexico City artists began to incorporate the paper into their art and the Mexican government publicized and promoted the unique indigenous craft.

Today, most households in San Pablito are involved in paper-making and the craft provides a vital source of income for local families. The paper boom has helped reduce poverty in the village and has provided work for papermakers and people who harvest bark throughout the region.

Locals like Trejo González still honor the spiritual and historical significance of the handmade craftpaper.

“It’s not just amate paper, there’s a history behind it. We share our knowledge of it with the whole family.”

Five stars for BOKA without hesitation.
Size: Pack of 1, 4 Ounce, Set name: A. Ela Mint
I have tried a lot of natural toothpastes over the years and I can honestly say that Boka completely surprised me in the best possible way. From the very first use it felt like I had finally found a toothpaste that balances modern science with a clean ingredient philosophy. You will not be disappointed. The standout ingredient here is nano hydroxyapatite, which is the same mineral that naturally makes up tooth enamel. That immediately caught my attention because instead of simply masking dental issues it actually supports remineralization. After learning more about nano hydroxyapatite and how it interacts with enamel I felt confident giving this toothpaste a real trial. The texture is smooth and creamy and it spreads easily across the teeth. Some fluoride free toothpastes can feel chalky or thin but this one feels refined and well formulated. It produces a gentle foam that feels pleasant while brushing but never overwhelming. The flavor is another area where this toothpaste shines. It is refreshing without being harsh or overly minty. My mouth feels clean and balanced after brushing rather than blasted with artificial intensity. That subtle freshness actually lasts much longer than I expected. After about two weeks of consistent use I started noticing that my teeth felt smoother throughout the day. That polished feeling you normally get right after a dental cleaning lasted longer than usual. My teeth also appeared brighter which was a welcome bonus. Another thing I appreciate is the ingredient transparency. There are no questionable additives and it is completely fluoride free which is important for people who prefer alternatives that still support enamel health. Knowing that nano hydroxyapatite is widely used in advanced dental care products in other parts of the world made this even more compelling. The packaging is clean and modern and the tube dispenses easily without making a mess on the cap. It feels like a premium product from start to finish. What really impressed me is how well this toothpaste balances effectiveness, comfort, and thoughtful formulation. It manages to feel gentle while still leaving my teeth incredibly clean and refreshed. If you are looking for a high quality fluoride free toothpaste that focuses on enamel support and a healthier approach to oral care then I highly recommend giving this one a try. It has absolutely earned a permanent place in my daily routine and it is one of the few natural toothpastes I genuinely look forward to using every day.

Great toothpaste.
Size: Pack of 1, 4 Ounce, Set name: B. Whitening
This is by far really great toothpaste. I can tell the difference in the color of my teeth. And sometimes my teeth are kinda sensitive to harsh toothpaste. But this is good for sensitive teeth. And minty flavor is not to strong either. Try it. I hope it works for you as well as It does for me. 🤗

Gentle and Pleasant to Use
Size: Pack of 2, 1.3 Ounce, Set name: A. Ela Mint
This toothpaste feels gentle on sensitive teeth and has a clean, refreshing taste without being too strong. The texture is smooth, and it leaves my mouth feeling fresh after brushing. I also like that it uses nano hydroxyapatite instead of fluoride, which makes it an interesting alternative to traditional toothpaste. Overall, a good toothpaste for sensitive teeth and daily use.

Great natural fiber soap bags
I'm a soap maker who lives with teenagers who always seem to get everything absolutely soaked in the bathroom. I invested in these bags as a way to help my soap last longer while providing some scrub without adding exfoliators to the formula. They are well made, a good value, and I love that they are made out of natural fibers. They dry out quickly, are not too rough, but still provide nice exfoliation. I will definitely purchase again.

Great, small investment
This set of bags was a great value for my money. Soaps all sizes fit in there perfectly. This is a very versatile item. I use one of mine in my bedroom for dry garbage like gum, wrappers and tissues, then empty it weekly. It’s a great quality. It’s all natural very durable. And the main reason why I got these is because they also exfoliate.
