What are Eenee Biodegradable Nappy Pads?

These compostable nappy pads are revolutionary in the world of eco diapers.

Eenee Compostable Nappy Pads are the only nappy pad on the market which is completely compostable (in line with Australian AS4454 standards).

Sometimes called ‘Eco Disposable Nappies’ or ‘Eco Disposables’, these eco-friendly nappy pads are the perfect hybrid between a disposable and cloth nappy, ideal for any busy eco-conscious parent. They’re easy to use and are great for starting out in the world of sustainable nappy alternatives.

Suitable for babies of varying sizes, from newborns to toddlers, these compostable nappy pads come in four different sizes: Small (2-6kg), Medium (5-11kg), Large (11-16kg) and Extra Large (16kg+), allowing you to adjust as your child grows. You can see our size chart here.

They are designed to be used in conjunction with one of Eenee’s simple-to-use reusable nappy pants or baby tummy bands.

Got questions? Take a look at our FAQs here.

How do you use Eenee compostable nappy pads?

These biodegradable nappies are designed for use with Eenee’s washable nappy pants or the reusable baby tummy bands. They work in a similar way to disposables, just without all the plastic and waste that clogs up landfills.

Learn how to fit these compostable nappies in this handy video.

Using with the hybrid nappy pant

Simply place a nappy pad inside the pouch of the Eenee reusable eco nappy pant, with the elasticated pocket facing upwards and the waterproof lining of the pant behind it. It should curve into a ‘U’ shape.

Then, use the outer popper fastening at the back pants to hold the uPad in place (at first glance, it might look like an ordinary Eenee label!). You’ll want to pull a little bit of the nappy liner over the top of the pant and lay it between the opened popper before folding over and snapping the popper fastening together to secure the liner in place.

The other half of the nappy pad tucks into the pocket at the front. Suitable for the wriggliest of bottoms out there!

The innovative waterproof biofilm lining means the eco nappy pants themselves don’t often get soiled, so they can be used again and again throughout the day - and you end up with much less laundry to do! When it’s time for a change, remove the soiled nappy pad, pop it in the compost (or in the Travel Nappy Wet Bag when you’re out and about), add a fresh one, and you’re good to go again. The hybrid nappy pant can be reused all day, minimising laundry and simplifying nappy changes.

Using with the baby tummy band

Place the back of the compostable nappy pad over the Velcro patches on the inside of your Eenee baby tummy band (the wide bit) and firmly press down to attach. A little bit of the uPad liner should overhang above the tummy band at the top, but you can re-adjust this when fitting to your baby for the perfect fit.

Next, fit the eco nappy as you would do normally, wrapping the nappy belt around their tummy, over the top of the nappy pad with the wide waistband at the back. Use the Velcro-style fasteners on the belt to hold the biodegradable pad in place at the back, and use the straps on either side to wrap around the waist and secure at the front of the nappy pad. It's that easy!

What are Eenee Compostable Nappy Pads made from?

These biodegradable nappy pads have a cellulose-based outer layer and a certified compostable biofilm waterproof lining that’s derived entirely from cornstarch.

The inners are filled with ethically sourced wood pulp fluff and a super absorbent polymer called sodium polyacrylate to lock in and hold moisture, keeping your baby’s skin nice and dry. That might sound like a scary name but this material is actually safe and non-toxic - it’s even used as an additive in food and cosmetics!

With no petrochemical plastics, perfumes, solvents or other irritants used, these nappy pads are an ideal choice for sensitive skin. Their fully sustainable construction also makes them far more eco-friendly than standard disposables!

Are these biodegradable nappies actually compostable?

Yes! Eenee eco nappies and Nappy Pants have been endorsed by Compost Australia as the only disposable nappy suitable for commercial composting facilities.

They have been independently tested to make sure that they compost to the Australian Standard AS4454 (which is actually more stringent than EU standards!). In fact, they have been found to biodegrade down into completely bioavailable materials that make a positive contribution to the compost they’re a part of.

Composting in the UK

You can compost wet nappy pads in your compost at home, if you use a hot composting method. It's advised not to add feces to your compost.

The Eenee nappy pads are 100% compostable so it ought to be possible to add them to council food waste collections, but we are not aware of any that are taking them yet. We encourage you to reach out to your local council to advocate for composting facilities - the more people ask for it, the more likely we'll have it everywhere! We will also be working with councils in the UK to advocate for compostable nappies.

Even if you don’t have composting facilities, these compostable nappy pads create a lot less waste compared to your regular disposable nappies!

What’s the difference between Eenee compostable pads and disposable nappies?

Did you know that a standard disposable nappies are made of 25-50% plastic? They’re one of the biggest contributors to single-use plastic waste in the UK.

In contrast, Eenee’s compostable nappy pads are completely plastic free.

These eco nappies provide all the superior absorbency of disposables but utilise non-toxic, plant-based materials that naturally break down and biodegrade completely in a matter of months. No petrochemical plastics, no perfumes, no solvents. This makes them far more eco-friendly and sustainable than standard disposable nappies that contain plastic components and take half a millennium to decompose.

While they are still single-use and will need to be disposed of once soiled, these eco-disposable nappies can be composted and won't contribute to the global waste crisis like regular disposables.

Why should I choose a hybrid nappy instead of a disposable one?

Disposable nappies, while convenient for parents, pose significant environmental and health concerns. Their production requires vast amounts of resources including wood pulp and petroleum-based plastics, contributing to unsustainable deforestation, fossil fuel depletion, and pollution.

UK households throw away 3 billion disposable nappies to landfill every year - that’s a lot when you consider they can take up to 500 years to decompose! The sheer volume ending up as waste fuels the growing waste crisis and creates a lasting burden on our ecosystem.

By choosing Eenee’s hybrid nappy system with compostable pads, you can have the best of both worlds: convenience for you, comfort for baby, and sustainability for the planet.

You’ll be reducing your carbon footprint, as well as the amount of waste your baby produces and the amount of plastic that enters the environment. Plus, they’re just as convenient and only create a little extra washing per week.

High on Tropes and Satisfaction
Format: Kindle
This is a great Romantasy book full of action, adventure, and everything you look for in this genre. I won’t lie: it does kinda feel like the author found every common trope from every successful book of this kind and threw them all into this novel. But if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Especially in romance, there’s a large audience who has specific expectations, and they want them every time. Nothing wrong with that and many times I’m one of them. I have no idea what defines a spoiler honestly, so spoiler alert!!!!!!! Tropes include: Only one bed at the inn/bar Dissatisfaction with life before hunk appears Lost royalty The chosen one Montage of dress up time followed by shocked hunk Forbidden romance between two from rival peoples Power that cannot be controlled, simply guided/asked Gathering intel at the inn/bar FMC who knows how to fight/use weapons well There’s probably more but no need to list them all. Good story and I would recommend!

OUTSTANDING
Format: Kindle
This was very, very good. The world is vast and characters are complex. There is a good plot with a whole lot going on. This is well written. Good twists and turns and some heart breaking moments. You will love these characters, they have heart and loyalty. I am hoping that there will be several more books. We've yet to see anything from the Sea Court but only a mention of them here and there. The Wood Court was given a quick couple of scenes, and only as far as some warriors, we've yet to enter their court and the Shadow Court, I'm not sure if they will be a force for good or bad, but they definitely will play a much bigger role moving forward. This is primarily the Ice and Air Courts. Told in multiple views, which I loved, it gives you a chance to see things from different eyes. There's alot of political maneuvering and deception. I loved it and will pick up the next book as it becomes available. If you like The Fae and the courts, you should love this. I think the author has mucn in store for us.

Definitely worth the read!
Format: Kindle
After taking a deep breath and taking in that wicked twist of an ending, I have finally composed myself. My first thought when I started this book was that I love Reyna's character. I was intrigued by her connection with her familiar and the Ruin that is plaguing her land. It came as no surprise that she took her sister's place in an attempt to protect her. When they reach the Air Court everything slows down. This is where it was iffy for me. First of all, I like multiple POV's in books however 7 is a bit much. It starts to interrupt the story line. I felt like I was finally making progress connecting with one character, then it was switched to another person. I felt they all had necessary or pertinent information but not necessarily were they all POV worthy. The only other thing that annoyed me was that Reyna constantly was " trapped." She would rush off without thinking, only to need rescuing. She is brilliant in a fight, but she really doesn't think through anything. Lorcan is amazing. I know he might be on the "bad" list, but his background is so interesting. Eislyn(Reyna's sister) is really so sweet, but calculating. I enjoyed her and Thane's dialogue. The author did an amazing job with the imagery in this book. Everything was so detailed it was easy to fall into the scene. I love unexpected twists and while part of the ending I expected, I wasn't expecting how it took place. All in all, I found it very entertaining and I am very invested in continuing this series. Favorite quotes: "The truth may be twisted but never false." "Who was she if she was not the enemy of the Air Court? What was her purpose of she no longer has that?" "In a war-torn land, love was always a lie."

Great Read!!! Great story!!!
Format: Kindle
The series is long, but Ms. Wolfhart does a fantastic job of weaving this tale while bringing so much to the characters. Surprises and plot twists along the way to keep you intrigued. There is some graphic sex, but is no way the focal point. Grammar was excellent (a rare find with a lot of self publishers) with only a few noted errors. I rarely give 4 stars, let alone 5.

Sadly, DNF
Format: Kindle
I read this thru KU. I LOVED the synopsis. And then I began reading... and it was a DNF at 68% after picking it up and putting it down several times because I really loved the main female character. *****SPOILERS***** Pros: The world is unique, intriguing and fun. The primary female character is bad-a** but not a b*tech or a mary sue. The primary female has depth. I really want to know what happens to her even tho it's been weeks and I don't remember her name. The villains to the point I read are pretty good -- an ever present threat of mysterious and possibly many culprits. Cons: Way, way too many points of view. I stopped counting at 7. It's the prime reason why I don't care about most of the characters or remember their names even when I like them. There's just too many points of view so almost none of the characters have enough book space for the author to properly develop them. This literally killed the book for me. Actually it killed my desire to read. For weeks. The main male is more villain than hero. He agreed to marry the main female then locks her up & eschews her for her sister, all while bad mouthing her as unfit to rule when he never spent any time with her getting to know her. He is actually unfit to rule as he is blind to the woes of his own kingdom and starts off a peace mission to secure a ceasefire through marriage by murdering an inn full of people in her country for no real reason. Plus, he constantly makes promises he does not keep. And it's gross of him to pine for the sister behind the main female's back. ***** As much as I really wanted to see what happened to the main female character, it wasn't enough for me to keep trying to slog thru this book. There was a lot of potential here that just fell short. Hence, 3 stars.
