De EarthQuaker Devices Plumes is geen zoveelste kloon van het legendarische groene overdrive-pedaal. Het is een volledig analoge herinterpretatie die de essentie van de TubeScreamer pakt en er flink op verbetert. Meer headroom, meer karakter en een helderheid die je versterker op een manier aandrijft die het origineel nooit kon.

De drie clipping-modi zijn de kern van de Plumes: symmetrisch voor de klassieke, gecomprimeerde screamer-crunch, asymmetrisch voor een iets opener en dynamischer gevoel vergelijkbaar met een buizenversterker, en geen clipping voor een volledig open Op Amp-boost die je preamp-buizen direct in saturatie drijft. De toonregeling is verfijnd afgestemd om zowel lage als hoge tonen door te laten zonder het mid-karakter te verliezen waar de Screamer om bekend staat. Het resultaat is een rijke, bloeiende sustain met een bijna driedimensionale aanwezigheid.

De Plumes Custom 2026 is een limited edition uitvoering en werkt op standaard 9V DC. Compact, direct en onmiddellijk inspirerend op elk pedalboard.

We liked the idea of the wireless charging capabilities, but were a little disappointed to discover that the power adapter (wall plug) is not included with the tray. The tray includes a charging pad and a cord, but no wall plug. We don't have an extra pair in the house, so we'll have to wait until a pack arrives before we can test out the charging capabilities. That aside, the trays are a handsome set. I think 20% larger might serve us a tad better, but this will do very nicely for now. We're able to fit almost everything we need in the tray and that will leave the tables looking much tidier, even if one or two items don't quite make it in.
