Книга вміщує документи і матеріали (українські, польські та німецькі) про низку акцій, здійснених загонами польського підпілля у березні–квітні 1944 р. на території Люблінського дистрикту Генеральної Губернії окупованої німцями Польщі. Ці дії були спрямовані проти десятків сіл Грубешівського повіту, в яких проживали переважно українці. Масштаб і жорстокість нападів спонукали населення назвати їх погромами. Внаслідок польських акцій напровесні 1944 р. було вбито близько 2 500 українських цивільних. Більшість жертв з українського боку становлять жінки та діти. Символом цієї трагедії стало село Сагринь, де польські відділи за одну ніч убили 619 осіб.
Найбільшою та найважливішою частиною збірника є 68 протоколів зі свідченнями очевидців, вони творять основний корпус відомих на сьогодні задокументованих описів подій. Ці свідчення є унікальними за документаційною вартістю для встановлення достовірного образу минулого.
Опубліковані тут матеріали з українських, польських та канадських архівів погруповано в такі розділи: свідчення уцілілих; документи осіб та установ Української Православної та Греко-Католицької Церков; документи українських адміністративних установ (УДК, УЦК); документи із середовища українського та польського підпілля та німецьких окупаційних установ. Документи німецькою та польською мовами перекладено українською.
Том 'Погром' започатковує нову видавничу підсерію проєкту 'Жертви польсько-українського протистояння у 1939–1947 рр.', у якій друкуватимуться матеріали для вивчення історії польсько-українського конфлікту воєнного часу, з опорою на архівні документи.
