Why Homeowners Love Creeping Charlie

Transform patchy, difficult areas into a lush, low-maintenance carpet with Creeping Charlie, also known as Ground Ivy. This classic creeping plant spreads gently to form a dense, soft mat of green leaves with charming lavender-blue flowers in spring. Perfect for shady lawns, under trees, along fences, and anywhere grass struggles, Creeping Charlie brings life, color, and resilience to spaces traditional turf just can’t handle.

Once established, this vigorous groundcover naturally fills bare areas, suppresses weeds, and requires little care. It stays low, handles foot traffic, and thrives in shade or partial sun. Whether used alone as a lawn alternative or seeded into thin patches to add coverage and texture, Creeping Charlie offers a beautiful, eco-friendly solution for homeowners wanting a softer, greener landscape.

As part of our Creeping Wonders™ collection, it’s family-safe, pollinator-friendly, and 100% natural — a smart replacement for high-maintenance turfgrass in challenging spots.

Where It Grows Best

  • Under trees
  • Shady or partially shaded lawns
  • Along walkways and garden edges
  • Damp or hard-to-grow problem areas
  • As a full lawn alternative or mixed into existing grass

Planting Overview

Light: Shade to partial sun

Soil: Prefers moist, rich soil but adapts easily

Sowing: Press lightly into soil — do not bury deeply

Water: Keep moist for first 2–3 weeks; drought-tolerant once established

Growth Habit: Low, spreading, fast to fill

Bloom Time: Early to mid-spring (bee-friendly purple flowers!)

The Earthwise Promise

We believe in beautiful landscapes that work with nature. Creeping Charlie is a resilient, shade-loving groundcover that reduces lawn maintenance, supports pollinators, and thrives without chemicals — a simple, natural solution for greener living.

Growing Zone

Creeping Charlie (Glechoma hederacea) is a hardy groundcover best suited to cooler and moderate climates across the United States. It thrives in moist soils and partial shade and is most reliable in regions with mild summers and consistent moisture.

Planting Instructions

Bare soil vs. overseeding matters — but both are possible.

All Earthwise seed mixes can be planted into prepared bare soil or overseeded into an existing lawn. The right approach depends on your starting point, timeline, and goals.

  • Bare soil planting offers the fastest, most uniform establishment
  • Overseeding allows your lawn to transition naturally over time, working with your existing grass and soil ecosystem

Identifying whether you’re starting fresh or enhancing what’s already growing will help you get the best results.

Very functional, and lots of fun for little kids. Gentle enough for their skin, too.
Color: Frog&strawberry
These are so awesome. Two of them come in a box. There's a frog one and a strawberry one. They are inside individual zip lock bags inside the box. There's a scrubbie/loofa (not a natural one, just the plastic webbing type) on one side, and cloth-covered plushie/sponge on the other side that is the strawberry/frog. My granddaughter loves them. She can use them to clean and scrub herself, just like a big girl, but with a fun sponge/scrubby that she likes, so she always knows that there's a special one that is just hers. They absorb plenty of water and soap, and are good for cleaning their whole body. They are just the right size to fit in an adult hand, so a little big for solo use by a little hand, but there are plenty of bits to grab onto on either side, so it's not hard for a little kid to hang onto them. The loofah/scrubby side is well made, although it will become big and loose as those things always do if you pull on them too much. The sponge/toy side is very soft, and definitely gentle enough for a small child's skin. My only dislike is the small loop for hanging it on a hook in the shower. The little loop is just tiny and hard to separate, so it's difficult to get it onto a hook so it can hang and dry out in between uses. It would have been very easy to make the loop longer and more functional, so I'm not sure why they didn't. Other than that one, minor inconvenience, this is a great product.

Adorable scrubbie
Color: Turtle&bunny
Durable sponge made with quality material. Great value for price, soap lathers well and no signs of wear and tear after using for a month. Not too rough on the skin, plus you can’t beat the adorable turtle design

Super Cute! Stuffing Seems to Poke Out
Color: Frog&strawberry
These kids bath sponges are super cute! My daughter loves the strawberry one. It's soft, and well made, and doesn't irritate her skin. The size is just right for little hands, and they seem to be holding up well so far. One thing I noted is that some of the stuffing seemed to be poking out when I first opened it, but it came off easily and doesn't seem to be getting worse.

Great work on the recent history of strategic studies and strategy in practice.
Format: Kindle
While not perfect, certainly one of the best works on strategy I've read recently and possibly the best work on post-1945 strategic history I've read in a while. Two main flaws or issues of contention: Strachan's critique of civil-military relations is at times lucid, but at other times appears to come slightly off the rails. Second, the books origin as a (much altered and added too) collection of articles shows through in the many areas which it doubles back on itself covering ground previously well trodden, at times this is done to build on previously mentioned ideas, at other times it seems overly repetitive. On the whole it is an excellent assessment and critique of the recent history of Strategic Studies as a field, as a historian I find many of his disciplinary critiques of the history/IR balance quite convincing, but I suppose I'm biased.
