Pulsallama ‎– S/T – New LPNonstop crazed fun, obviously owing something to the B52s and Pylon, but these girls got rid of the boys and the guitars! Big thick double dose of bass for a big fat bottom, the girls shaking it up, pounding it down, and kicking it out, all sorts of percussion fun, chucking up the arms and shouting "STOP, GO COWBUNGA!!" And sometimes even singing whole songs, and telling stories and talking trash! Forget about calling this "post punk," that doesn't

Nonstop crazed fun, obviously owing something to the B52s and Pylon, but these girls got rid of the boys and the guitars!  Big thick double-dose of bass for a big fat bottom, the girls shaking it up, pounding it down, and kicking it out, all sorts of percussion fun, chucking up the arms and shouting "STOP, GO...COWBUNGA!!"  And sometimes even singing whole songs, and telling stories and talking trash!  Forget about calling this "post-punk," that doesn't capture what this is.  This is the shit, great shit.  Chugging Molsons and pink champagne!!!" -- winch

“Pulsallama is the sound of girls–laughing, shouting, chanting, teasing, screaming girls–who are as hip and as hot as only girls can be when they’re alone together.” - High Times (July, 1982)

The exotic, tribalistic sounds of seven women fighting over a cowbell! Infectious melodies, driving rhythms, and a pulsating beat that will have you dancing like no one is looking! Twenty minutes of ‘80s post-punk pleasure that marks Pulsallama’s first full length recording! Known for their bombastic, ritualistic shows at Club 57 on NYC’s Lower East Side featuring jungle style rhythms, dual basses, and an all out assault of percussive perfection, this album captures that energy in what’s oddly a 1983 French radio broadcast recorded live in a studio in NYC!?! Featuring three supercharged versions of their most adored tracks that rival the originals, plus four more that are largely unheard.

Seven woman post-punk percussion ensemble!

  • Features unheard takes of their Danny Brown sampled “Ungawa Pt. II” and their underground hit, “The Devil Lives In My Husband’s Body”
  • Unheard outside of one French radio broadcast in '83!

In contrast to the more serious, sociopolitically-minded outlook of many acts of the post-punk era, Pulsallama fully embraced camp and kitsch, presenting as bizarro-world housewives in retro cocktail dresses and delivering lyrics with a darkly funny, tongue-in-cheek theatricality where no topic was off limits.

While the group was relatively short-lived, Pulsallama has remained an enduring presence in narratives of the downtown Manhattan music scene of the 1980s, from appearances on several compilation albums of punk-funk and mutant disco classics of the era that have been released in the decades that followed, to their inclusion in the major Club 57 retrospective exhibit that opened at the Museum of Modern Art in 2017, to the echoes of their untamed, anarchic clamor that can be heard in any number of contemporary femme-centered bands inspired by early post-punk and No Wave. The recordings on this album, recorded in a New York studio but previously only ever heard on a French radio broadcast in 1983, are a small glimpse into the unbounded possibilities that were being charted by those women fighting over a cowbell.

Includes:

Ungawa Pt. II (Way Out Guyana) • Temple Of The Sun • Rhythm Method • Trash • The Devil Lives In My Husband’s Body • Ulsapay Amallay • Oui-Oui (A Canadian In Paris)

If you're looking for a comfortable thick and nice turtle neck this is the one. It's nice and form fitting nice weight to it to keep you warm. But not to thick that you cant just wear it on a regular sunny day if you wanted. The design pattern Is also very nice. Can dress it up or down. I bought the black and then immediately bought the rust orange color for my friend once he tried on mine he wanted one immediately so I gifted him one. He loves it. Definitely worth the buy. Excellent quality. I bought a Large 5"11 165lbs

A true turtleneck that retains a snug high neck.
Color: White, Size: X-Large
I've found this brand to have gotten better over the years as far as offering the American market what it needs in terms of realistic sizing. I only wish they'd realize that there are a lot of us who are long in the back and arms where my only choice is to go a size up and sacrifice a slim fit for sleeves that are long enough plus a back that doesn't go up past my waist just because I reach up for something, that and I like to be warm. So these are such nice quality turtlenecks that it's hard to complain about but maybe the company will read this. The snug neck stays up is plus number one since that's why I'm buying a full neck. They come with very nice weaves in the fabric, good enough for casual or formal wear. Finally the warmth you seek is there but I've worn them in what most would think isn't the right temp for a turtleneck. Also they have them in white! Yes, a lot of others just don't for reasons I can't fathom, and the pic you're seeing is accurate, these will form to your shape without being ridiculously thin material. Several washes later and they are as fine a garment as when I first wore them. I've only found one other brand that compares to these but it's much more expensive, COOFANDY is affordable in these times of expensive everything. Warm but also a lightweight shirt, I've gotten them really dirty with actual dirt and it washes out so well you'd never know it. Don't let my taking off one star stop you, try one yourself and you'll be coming back for more.
