The bandana is worked in the round from the outer edge towards the centre. After casting on stitches for the outer edge using the scrap yarn and a provisional cast-on, you continue with the working yarn.
First you work a few rows back and forth in double knitting (Italian/tubular cast-on) for a narrow edge. Where after you join for working in the round in stocking stitch, decreasing at each of the four corners in a particular rhythm to create a diamond shape. Finally, the last few stitches are pulled together at the centre.
