The Monnit ALTA Wireless Temperature Sensor in a compact coin-cell powered form is designed to deliver reliable ambient temperature monitoring where accuracy and ease of installation matter most. Built around a precise thermistor, this sensor captures the temperature of the surroundings at its location, providing you with real-time data that helps protect products, ensure compliance, and optimize operations. With a battery-powered design and wireless capabilities, the ALTA sensor removes the need for power outlets or running wires to hard-to-reach areas, enabling flexible deployment across warehouses, cold storage rooms, server rooms, laboratories, and retail environments. Its compact footprint blends into any setting, while its durable construction withstands the demands of everyday use. When integrated with the Monnit gateway and cloud-based portal, it becomes a scalable part of a broader IoT solution designed for proactive temperature management, compliance reporting, and remote monitoring from any device.

  • Battery-powered convenience: The ALTA temperature sensor runs on a coin-cell battery, eliminating the need for wiring and reducing installation time. This design supports rapid deployment in diverse environments and simplifies maintenance scheduling since you can place multiple sensors without concern for nearby power outlets or outlets run, giving you scalable coverage across locations.
  • Thermistor-based accuracy: A high-quality thermistor provides dependable ambient temperature readings at the sensor’s precise location. This focus on localized sensing means you can trust the data to reflect real conditions around equipment, storage areas, or work zones, supporting accurate trend analysis and timely decision-making for temperature-sensitive processes.
  • Customizable read intervals: You control how often the sensor takes measurements—from frequent sampling for dynamic environments to longer intervals for low-maintenance monitoring. By fine-tuning the reading frequency, you balance data resolution with battery life, ensuring you get meaningful insights without unnecessary drain on the coin-cell power source.
  • Threshold alerts and notifications: Configure high and low temperature thresholds to trigger alerts through Monnit’s cloud-based monitoring system. Alerts can be routed to your preferred channels, such as email or push notifications, enabling immediate awareness of excursions and empowering rapid response to protect assets and maintain quality control.
  • Seamless integration and scalable monitoring: The ALTA sensor is designed to work with Monnit gateways and the cloud platform, enabling centralized monitoring across multiple sites. Whether you’re managing a single facility or a multi-location operation, you can build a cohesive temperature monitoring network with consistent data formats, dashboards, and reporting.

how to install Monnit ALTA Wireless Temperature Sensor

  • Prepare your Monnit gateway and ensure it has a stable network connection. Confirm the gateway is powered and online so it can receive data from newly added sensors.
  • Insert a fresh coin-cell battery into the ALTA sensor following the manufacturer’s battery installation guidelines. Take care to reseal the housing securely to maintain durability and reliability in your environment.
  • Power up the sensor and place it in your chosen monitoring location. Choose a spot that represents typical ambient conditions around the assets or spaces you want to monitor, away from direct heat sources or direct sunlight where readings could be skewed.
  • Pair the sensor with your Monnit gateway using the Monnit Portal or your configured management software. Initiate the pairing process, assign a descriptive name, and group the sensor into the appropriate location or site for streamlined management.
  • Configure the sensing interval and alert thresholds through the Monnit cloud portal. Set acceptable temperature ranges, define alert recipients, and test the notification path to ensure timely delivery in case of excursions. Validate ongoing data flow by reviewing live readings and historical trends once the sensor starts reporting.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: What is the Monnit ALTA Wireless Temperature Sensor designed to measure? A: It is designed to measure ambient temperatures around the sensor’s location using a thermistor for accurate, localized readings. This makes it ideal for monitoring storage rooms, equipment spaces, work areas, and other environments where temperature control is important.
  • Q: How long does the coin-cell battery last? A: Battery life depends on the chosen reading frequency and usage patterns. The coin-cell design is optimized for long-term operation, delivering extended monitoring with minimal maintenance. You can extend or reduce sensor activity to balance endurance with data granularity.
  • Q: Can I set up alerts for temperature thresholds? A: Yes. You can configure high and low temperature thresholds in the Monnit portal and receive alerts when readings exceed or drop below those thresholds. Alerts can be delivered via email, push notifications, or other connected channels supported by the Monnit system.
  • Q: Is this sensor compatible with a Monnit gateway? A: Absolutely. The ALTA Wireless Temperature Sensor is designed to work in concert with Monnit gateways and the cloud-based management platform, enabling centralized monitoring across devices and sites with consistent data handling.
  • Q: Do I need IT support to install and configure this sensor? A: Not necessarily. The sensor is designed for straightforward installation and cloud-based configuration. Basic network connectivity for the gateway and access to the Monnit portal are typically sufficient, making it suitable for facilities teams, technicians, and non-IT staff with proper training.
  • Q: Can I deploy multiple ALTA sensors in different rooms? A: Yes. The coin-cell powered ALTA sensors are ideal for scalable deployments across facilities. You can add as many sensors as needed, group them by location, and monitor all readings from a single, unified dashboard.

Great look and storage space
I've had these shelves for two years now, and still love them. I love the industrial style. They add lots of great storage space for a small apartment. I have two sets - one for the laundry room and the other as a linen closet. Assembly is okay. Make sure you follow the instructions.

Pleased. Looks nice and set up well.
Looks nice and is a unique look to put mementos, small book, and photos. Pretty solid when tightened up properly. Shelves have a cheap veneer to them but you can’t tell until you touch it. It is very secure if you attach this to a stud. I did not drill to the floor and it is fine. Wall anchors suck in drywall and this is big enough you should be attaching to one stud minimum. Here is A little trick to secure the shelving unit properly if the studs don’t work in your favor. Take a pine 1x3 or 1x4 and cut to the width of the shelving. Paint them the same color as the wall. You will barely notice the board. Place the assembled shelve amd mark where the pipe anchors attach on the wall. Use those marks to place the boards and drill them directly to studs. Mount the pipe feet anchors to the board. See picture. Solid!
