The Dragons and the Snakes: How the Rest Learned to Fight the WestJust a few years ago, people spoke of the US as a hyperpower a titan stalking the world stage with more relative power than any empire in history. Yet as early as 1993, newly appointed CIA director James Woolsey pointed out that although Western powers had "slain a large dragon" by defeating the Soviet Union in the Cold War, they now faced a "bewildering variety of poisonous snakes." Just a few years ago, people spoke of the US as a hyperpower-a titan stalking the world stage with more relative power than any empire in history. Yet as early as 1993, newly-appointed CIA director James Woolsey pointed out that although Western powers had "slain a large dragon" by defeating the Soviet Union in the Cold War, they now faced a "bewildering variety of poisonous snakes." In Dragons and Snakes, the eminent soldier-scholar David Kilcullen asks how, and what, opponents of the West have learned during the last quarter-century of conflict. Applying a combination of evolutionary theory and detailed field observation, he explains what happened to the "snakes"-non-state threats including terrorists and guerrillas-and the "dragons"-state-based competitors such as Russia and China. He explores how enemies learn under conditions of conflict, and examines how Western dominance over a very particular, narrowly-defined form of warfare since the Cold War has created a fitness landscape that forces adversaries to adapt in ways that present serious new challenges to America and its allies. Within the world's contemporary conflict zones, Kilcullen argues, state and non-state threats have increasingly come to resemble each other, with states adopting non-state techniques and non-state actors now able to access levels of precision and lethal weapon systems once only available to governments. A counterintuitive look at this new, vastly more complex environment, Dragons and Snakes will not only reshape our understanding of the West's enemies' capabilities, but will also show how we can respond given the increasing limits on US power.Binding Type: Hardcover

Not for people over 5'6"
Special Size: 27.5" Full Length with Pockets, Size: XX-Large, Color: Slate Grey
These are definitely designed for shorter people. They get 5* because they're still low cost and decent quality on fabric. Just have to pull the waist up because the calfs are not designed to be worn as capris and pull the entire leggings down. If it sized up one more then they'd just fall down because of the waist.
So waistband fits as expected. They're just also for shorter people than me.

"Heather" and Non-Heather Colors are Not the same Fit & Material
Special Size: 27.5" Full Length, Size: Large, Color: Space Dye Slate
I bought these in one of the "heathered" colors and loved how soft they were. They are really comfortable and stretchy, thick enough that they can be worn on their own. They are not a perfect fit, but fit well enough and I can overlook this because of how smooth they feel.
I wanted to try other colors and only realized after purchasing that the non-heathered colors were a different material. I was able to return them but they should probably be listed as a separate item. They have an entirely different fit and texture and I would not recommend.
Five stars for the heather colors, one star for the non-heather version.

Comfy!
Special Size: 27.5" Full Length with Pockets, Size: Large, Color: Black
Super comfy, not as much tummy control as I would like but perfect for house work, going to the gym or grocery shopping. Love that these have pockets!! Thin so not too hot and stretchy too.

Great leggings!
Special Size: 27.5" Full Length with Pockets, Size: Medium, Color: Black
These are great leggings! They’re my third pair. They are comfortable, lightweight, and fit great. I wouldn’t say they are buttery soft as compared to other leggings that are listed the same texture, however they are soft and smooth. The pockets are a must and are positioned perfectly.

So excited I found these!
Special Size: 27.5" Full Length, Size: Small, Color: Black, Special Size: 27.5" Full Length, Size: Small, Color: Black
Extremely impressed with these leggings! These athletic leggings are absolutely amazing! The material is incredibly soft and feels so comfortable against the skin. The quality is top-notch, with a durable yet flexible fabric that moves perfectly with your body. They are completely squat-proof, which makes them perfect for workouts, and they stay in place without sliding down, no matter how much you move. Some of my more expensive name brand leggings don’t check all the boxes; as these do! These leggings truly combine comfort, quality, and performance—highly recommended!
Also- I am 5’3/5’4 and these hit right at my ankle
