Red, White, & Black Make Blue: Indigo in the Fabric of Colonial South Carolina LifeLike cotton, indigo has defied its humble origins. Like cotton, indigo has defied its humble origins. Left alone it might have been a regional plant with minimal reach, a localized way of dyeing textiles, paper, and other goods with a bit of blue. But when blue became the most popular color for the textiles that Britain turned out in large quantities in the eighteenth century, the South Carolina indigo that colored most of this cloth became a major component in transatlantic commodity chains. In Red, White, and Black Make Blue, Andrea Feeser tells the stories of all the peoples who made indigo a key part of the colonial South Carolina experience as she explores indigo's relationships to land use, slave labor, textile production and use, sartorial expression, and fortune building.

In the eighteenth century, indigo played a central role in the development of South Carolina. The popularity of the color blue among the upper and lower classes ensured a high demand for indigo, and the climate in the region proved sound for its cultivation. Cheap labor by slaves--both black and Native American--made commoditization of indigo possible. And due to land grabs by colonists from the enslaved or expelled indigenous peoples, the expansion into the backcountry made plenty of land available on which to cultivate the crop. Feeser recounts specific histories--uncovered for the first time during her research--of how the Native Americans and African slaves made the success of indigo in South Carolina possible. She also emphasizes the material culture around particular objects, including maps, prints, paintings, and clothing. Red, White, and Black Make Blue is a fraught and compelling history of both exploitation and empowerment, revealing the legacy of a modest plant with an outsized impact.

Great, Affordable, Pump Sprayer
Size: 1-Gallon
This is an affordable pump pressure sprayer. It works the same as, if not better than, other higher priced sprayers I have used. Itnis easy to clean and has an adjustment tip to change the amount of spray and width of spray. With it only being 1 gallon it is easy to carry while walking the perimeter of my home to spray for pests.

Good
Size: 1-Gallon
I’ve used this sprayer for applying fertilizer, insect control, and watering plants, and overall it works really well for basic lawn and garden jobs. The pump builds pressure quickly, and the adjustable nozzle gives a nice range from mist to stream. I also like the translucent tank because it makes it easy to see fluid levels while mixing. The anti-clog filter is a nice feature and helped keep the spray consistent during use. It’s lightweight and comfortable to carry around the yard. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that some of the plastic parts feel a little lightweight, and I noticed a slight drip from the nozzle after extended use. Still, for the price and performance, it’s a solid sprayer and gets the job done well.

Had to order more!
Color: Ivory/Rose Gold, Size: Pack of 50, Color: Ivory/Rose Gold, Size: Pack of 50
Such great hangers that save space and provide true non-slipping of clothing. They came in handy as I got rid of ye old plastic hangers. My closet looks so much more organized and a little bit more spacious. They are lightweight and hold up very well. I did notice some hangers had "peeling" to them but I honestly didn't care since they are doing the work they are intended for. These are pretty versatile as I even have winter jackes hanging from them. The price is aslo very good in my opinion and on par with one of the big box companies my mom got hers from, but I like the fact that these come in various colors and finishes. The quantity options are also a blessing as I needed more than I initially opted for. Needless to say I liked them so much I had to order more. I also loved how well and neatly packed they came. 10/10 recommend!
