Modernization has also changed the monastic system. Before the third King introduced secular education, Buddhist monastic training provided Bhutan's only formal learning system—usually restricted to the sons of privilege.

At this time, monks held great status and power as teachers, landlords and government officials. Now the urban Bhutanese want their children educated in English, not the monastic languages of Dzongkha and classical Tibetan; and their children attend secular schools, a prerequisite for prestigious government positions. These days, most monks come from poor villages and many of the urban youth, educated in English with civil service expectations, fail to make the cut and end up hanging around town, unemployed.

Imagine hundreds of village boys freely roaming wild mountains and forested valleys, herding yak or cows, working in the fields, throwing stones, splashing in streams and teasing the country girls. At seven or eight, their families decide that their destinies lie in the monastery. Suddenly, they find themselves in robes, cloistered with other boys from all over rural Bhutan, speaking different languages and dialects, spending most of their time praying and studying scripture, Dzongkha, Tibetan, mathematics and the teachings of Buddha. Young and wild, they overflow with exuberance and mischief. Yet the monastic system, with its subtle psychology and stern disciplinarians, turns this energy inward, to prayer, devotion, and service.

PHOTO PRINTS
Prints are on Hahnemuhle heavyweight (315 gsm) 100% archival cotton “Photo Rag Baryta” paper, using archival inks and archival spray coating. They have a 200-year life expectancy before any deterioration of the print will be observed when stored, handled, and displayed under archival conditions.

CANVAS PRINTS
What is often called “Gallery Wrap Canvas” is a fine art inkjet (Giclee) print on canvas, with printed edges to wrap around a wooden stretcher frame, like a painting. With canvas prints, your print image is still the same size, but given a "wrap effect" around the edges to account for the thickness of the stretcher. Canvas can be rolled and shipped with no effect to the print. Your local framing shop should be able to mount the canvas to stretchers at a fraction of the cost of traditional framing, making for an overall more economical way to get fine art on your wall. The canvas is printed to wrap around a 1-inch stretcher (1.5 inches on larger sizes). Specifications will be provided with your order. Feel free to contact us if you need guidance with your canvas order.

John prints, titles, dates, and signs all of his photos.

Unlock your machine's potential
***Twist the WDT tool to remove dont try to just pull, or use your finger nails A slight twist will break the magnetic bond and the tool just comes out of the handle*** i got this to get away chemicals, hot acidic coffee possibly leaching plastic and aluminum that the stock portifilter is made from. This seems like a nice stainless by the looks and heft of it. Aluminium is bad for the brain and plastic is just bad. Function... Im not using a 200$ or more grinder or anything... Just fresh beans and a 30$ wancle amazon burr grinder and this is pulling beautiful bottomless shots that really helped me dial in better and see my channeling issues that intern lets me adjust and get better. The stock tapered basket prevents consistant tamps and keeps you from using off the shelf filter papers at the bottom of the basket. i have to use a gram or 2 more for my dose but that just means stronger drinks. I can tell visually im getting more extraction now that im dialed in by the color after adding milk.

It doesn’t even fit
It doesn’t fit our Breville Barista Pro because the portafilter head is too tall. Such a disappointment. Update: Absolutely horrible customer support as well. Their only attempt to rectify the situation was by double checking their own portafilter they have and confirming it works. It’s equivalent of “we investigated ourselves and found nothing wrong.” No replacements, no willingness to accept constructive criticism in order to change the dimensions slightly by decreasing the height of the portafilter head by even a millimeter to make it work, nothing. Just a slap in the face telling me to return it and be gone. Avoid this product.

More work than it’s worth
It was great quality and the weight was nice, but it was odd having the open bottom and no spout to dribble into a cup when making an espresso. It was difficult to get the wire tool out of the end of the handle, making it difficult to use. I was not that impressed and it’s quite expensive.

Quality and Function
Looks like a silly little thing, I am not a coffee enthusiast. But it does exactly what it is supposed to do and with high quality. The device (a stretch to call it that) is made of sturdy materials including the needles. They give you two different thicknesses of needles, one for expressi (0.3) and one set for coffee grinds (0.4). Each comes wth some spares. The stand is well designed and keeps grinds from spreading all over. It is very elegant design. I use this with a dosing funnel on my portafilter. Not the cheapest one could buy but well worth the money.
