The great Texas tenor delivers the goods on this 1978 quartet session featuring the same rhythm section of Wray Downes (piano), Dave Young (bass) and Pete Magadini (drums) that played with Don Menza on the reissue of Bones Blues (SAC 4004). Tate's first big break came in 1939 when at the age of 26 he joined the Count Basie band and took a killer solo on "Rock A Bye Basie". After ten years with Basie, Tate led his own band for a twenty-year stint at Harlem's Celebrity Club, toured Europe, made club appearances and numerous recordings. Remixed from the original analog tapes this is the first issue on CD of this album.

A classic story reimagined
Format: Kindle
Although it is rare that people don’t know who the Man of Steel is and what his origins are, I still highly recommend this to people that want to get to know the timeless character better. Superstar creators Mark Waid, Leinil Yu, and Gerry Alanguilan have retold the origin of Superman with more modern and relevant themes throughout the story. The characters are written well and their designs are great. I didn’t want to put it down when I read it, highly, highly recommended for anyone that wants to read Superman.

A fresh view on an old story
Format: Kindle
Mark Waid is one of my favorite comic writers. He make his characters feel real with flaws and fears. At the same time shows the best qualities of humanity in them.
This is a good example of his ability to do so and even
If it is no the best one I read from him, I still recommend it to any comic fan that enjoys a good story.
