Six Questions Your My Eyelab Franchise Business Plan Must Answer

We built this eye clinic franchise startup plan in Microsoft Word using our own independent research into the model's economics. All six chapters are pre-populated with data specific to opening and operating a modern optical retail unit, including revenue projections that scale from $1.15 million in Year 1 to over $2.6 million by Year 5. The entire document is fully editable to match your specific location and financing needs.

Executive Summary: What is the core business case for opening this optical franchise unit?

The opportunity is to launch a modern, tech-forward optical retail store that combines affordable luxury with high-speed, telehealth-enabled eye exams. By targeting tech-savvy professionals and young families in a high-growth area, the business captures a customer segment that values both convenience and style, creating a strong competitive advantage over traditional optometry clinics.

Key Opportunity Drivers

  • Proprietary telehealth technology enables efficient, same-day exams.
  • A prime real estate location in a high-traffic commercial and medical hub.
  • B2B partnerships with local employers create a reliable revenue stream.
[dynamic_pic9]

Products & Services: What does this franchise sell, and why do customers choose it?

The unit generates revenue from four primary streams: prescription frames and lenses, telehealth exam fees, corporate vision packages, and contact lens sales. Customers choose this model for its unique value proposition of affordable luxury-offering over 2,000 frame styles-and the unmatched convenience of same-day, digitally powered eye exams.

Core Offerings by Year 1 Revenue

  • Frame and Lens Sales: Projected at $400,000 in the first year.
  • Telehealth Exam Fees: Forecasted to generate $180,000.
  • Corporate Vision Packages: Expected to bring in $120,000.
[dynamic_pic10]

Market Analysis: Who are the target customers, and what is the local market opportunity?

The primary customers are tech-savvy professionals, young families, and corporate employees located in and around a high-growth, health-conscious commercial hub. The market opportunity lies in serving these segments, which are currently underserved by slower, traditional eye care providers and are actively seeking the efficient, modern experience this franchise offers.

Primary Customer Segments

  • Tech-Savvy Professionals who value speed and digital convenience.
  • Young Parents and Families seeking stylish, affordable vision solutions.
  • Corporate Employees enrolled in exclusive B2B vision wellness plans.
[dynamic_pic11]

Marketing & Sales: How will this unit attract and retain customers profitably?

The unit will attract customers through a mix of aggressive digital marketing, including localized SEO, and by securing corporate partnerships with major local employers. Customer retention is driven by a high-touch, personalized in-store styling experience and community integration that builds long-term trust and loyalty. This is a key part of a profitable optical retail store operational strategy.

Customer Acquisition Channels

  • Localized digital marketing to reach target demographics online.
  • Corporate partnership networks for direct access to employees.
  • A superior in-store experience that drives word-of-mouth referrals.
[dynamic_pic12]

Management & Organization: Who runs the store, and what is the staffing model?

The unit will be run by a full-time Store Manager responsible for daily operations, sales performance, and upholding brand standards. The initial staffing model is built for a retail-first experience, including a lead optician, frame stylists, and reception staff, ensuring both clinical needs and customer service expectations are met from day one.

Core Staffing Plan (Year 1)

  • Store Manager: 1.0 full-time equivalent (FTE).
  • Optician Lead: 1.0 FTE to manage technical and lab work.
  • Frame Stylists: 2.0 FTEs to guide customers through selection.
[dynamic_pic13]

Financial Plan & Metrics: What are the startup costs, revenue potential, and key financial metrics?

The financial plan requires a minimum cash injection of $519,000 to cover startup costs, including a $34,900 franchise fee and extensive leasehold improvements. The unit is projected to generate $1.15 million in revenue in its first year, achieve break-even within the first month of operations, and deliver a full payback on the initial investment within 5 years.

Key Financial Projections

  • Year 1 Revenue: $1,150,000 with a 4% royalty and 8% marketing fee.
  • Year 1 EBITDA: $95,000, growing to $815,000 by Year 5.
  • Years to Payback: 5 years, with a long-term IRR of 2.19%.

Sleek, upscale and supremely comfortable
Size: 9, Color: Cognac
I did not know that Marc Joseph makes hands free slip ins. I own four pair of Skechers, and I thought they were the only game in town. I decided that I wanted a pair of business casual pair of wingtips. I already own two pair of Skechers Mark Nason wingtips in blue and black nubuck, so I bought a pair of their cognac colored. Perfectly fine shoes, but when they arrived, I didn't like the color, so the search was on! I found these cognac-colored Mark Joseph's and hands down, they fit the bill for what I was looking for! I actually bought two more pair of Skechers in the brown family in the same oxford, elastic lace style: One pair of another style of their Mark Nason line and one pair of their Garza line. So now I am comparing three pair of Skechers to the Marc Joseph's. Obsessive, I know :). Luckily, I have a Skechers store near me for easy returns. The look I was going for is a sleek, business casual that I could dress up or down. Three things that I love about the Marc Joseph's are the beautiful cognac finish: the white yet lower profile soles and the more formal, narrower toe style. The MJ's nailed it with the color. They have a slightly darker, more lustrous and glossier look than the others. The color alone looks classier and pairs well with black pants which I wear for work almost every day. The white soles are exactly what I was looking for. The visible rise is probably about a third of the thickness of the others and are a much more subtle, classier look. They offset the cognac color nicely but are not that in your face, sneaker looking, thick white sole. When I was comparing them to the others right out of the box, I thought they would be too narrow and tight because they looked sleeker and narrower than the others. But they fit perfectly and were very comfortable right out of the box. Upon closer inspection and comparison, I realized the narrower, sleeker look is because the eyelets for the elastic shoelaces are closer together that give the illusion that the shoe is narrower. They compensate for what might create a tighter fit across the top of your foot with two stretchy "gores" they are called on either side of the upper part. The "slits" are nicely finished, and you can't see the stretchy part and add a nice design touch to the shoe. But between them and the elastic shoelaces, they must stretch just enough to make them extremely comfortable across the top. So, if you have a high instep/arch, they should accommodate it nicely. Last but not least, they are very comfortable shoes. I wear a size 8 1/2 to 9 and my foot is slightly on the wide side. I bought the size 9's and they fit perfectly. If you are between sizes or have wider feet, you may want to size up a half size. Because the Skechers have much thicker soles, they might be slightly more cushioned, but the MJ's are cushioned more than enough for my purposes and very comfortable. Plus, they actually just feel better on my feet. I can't speak to how durable they will be as I just got them, but so far, so good. So, there you have it. I rely on other people's reviews a lot when buying online, and especially for shoes. I know it's always a crap shoot, particularly when buying shoes online, so I hope this review helps. Everybody's feet are different, but I highly recommend these.
