Walking Backwards into a Room meditates on practices and theories of walking, with attention to the relationship between language and walking. The steps taken between image and text and the steps taken to walk alongside a friend. Through illegible writing, visual works, and essays, this book (re)considers the many forms language can take: as symbols, materials, and objects—and correspondences between collaborators. Walking Backwards into a Room is a collaboration between artists Alana Frances and Ella Rosenblatt.
