Dune: Imperium sets itself apart by combining traditional worker placement mechanics with the intrigue of deck-building, introducing a layer of hidden information that significantly deepens the strategy. Each player begins the game with a unique leader card, symbolizing their chosen house, along with a starting deck that mirrors those of their opponents. The path you choose to expand your deck will sculpt your strategy, strengths, and vulnerabilities. Whether it's bolstering your military might to deploy more troops than your adversaries or gaining influence with the game's four key political factions-the Emperor, the Spacing Guild, the Bene Gesserit, and the Fremen-your decisions will determine the fate of your house.
Dune: Imperium offers a unique twist on deck-building; instead of playing your entire hand each turn, you draw a new hand of cards at the beginning of every round, playing just one card at a time to deploy your Agents. This turn-based mechanic, coupled with the strategic reveal of cards for Persuasion and Swords, makes for a game of deep strategy and tactical maneuvering. Persuasion allows you to acquire new cards, while Swords bolster your forces in the struggle for the rewards of the current round's Conflict card.
Command your forces, outwit your rivals, and navigate the shifting allegiances of Dune's political landscape to secure your place as the dominant force on Arrakis. With precious 'The Spice Must Flow' cards at stake, only the most cunning will ascend to victory.
