We will always endeavour to try and put on several walks over the weekend with a choice for the more experienced walker to go the extra mile, and something for the more casual walker wanting to explore the hidden gems Heartbeat country as to offer. Your walk leader will be Kev Borwell who will be accompanied by at least one other guide for the duration of the weekend. Kev’s walked and guided on the North York Moors for over 35 years, he is a former Royal Marine Mountain Leader and a practicing first aid instructor, with specialist knowledge in outdoor first aid skills.
Having decided on your choice of walk, we will leave the Inn on the Moor carpark at 10am. All walks will include some of the key features that the area as to offer including the Rail Trail, Mallyan Spout waterfall, the Roman Road, Wheeldale Moor, Simon Howe, Lilla Cross, Hole of Horcum, and finish the day with a trip down memory lane and call in at Scripps Garage and the Aidensfield Store.
Having decided on your choice of walk for the day we will leave the Inn on the Moor carpark at 10am. This is a shorter day and we hope to get finished by about 3.30pm. When we return to the Inn on the Moor your guides will be available to discuss the weekend’s activities before we bid you a farewell until the next time.
Useful Information
These are guided events and therefore suitable for those with limited walking and navigational experience, leave that to us just enjoy
Fitness – although the terrain can be demanding in places there are no big ascents and all routes are on established trails, however these trails can get boggy and harder during adverse weather conditions or the time of year, you expend more energy during the colder winter months than in finer summer conditions, so consider your current walking fitness. For the shorter events you may well be walking for about 4-5 hours and the longer events up to 8 hours duration.

All our guides have many years’ experience in the outdoors and most come from an educational background and encountered many different situations and dealt with individuals of mixed ability and experience.
Although we make every effort to make these events as safe and injury free as possible, and carry out our own rigorous risk assessments of the terrain covered, accidents inevitably can happen and therefore we need to bring to your attention that by attending these events you are aware of and accept the risks associated with low level hill walking.
If there are less than 8 people booked onto this walking event Walk Yorkshire reserves the right to host only one walk per day, this will be decided at the time and the route selection will be suitable for all participants.
