Building on his newfound international fame, Wilen recorded the soundtrack for Les Liaisons Dangereuses with jazz greats Thelonious Monk and Art Blakey. In 1959, he composed the music for Edouard Molinaros film Un tmoin dans la ville.

Barney Wilen’s career soared in 1957 when he won the Django Reinhardt prize and collaborated with Miles Davis on the soundtrack for the film ‘Elevator to the Scaffold’. Building on his newfound international fame, Wilen recorded the soundtrack for ‘Les Liaisons Dangereuses’ with jazz greats Thelonious Monk and Art Blakey. In 1959, he composed the music for Edouard Molinaro’s film ‘Un témoin dans la ville’. For this atmospheric night tour through Paris, Wilen was joined by the talented musicians who had been performing with him at the Club Saint-Germain: Kenny Dorham, Duke Jordan, Paul Rovère, and Kenny Clarke. The synergy between the music and the film creates a seamless blend of sound and image.
