Onkyo Muse Y-50 Network Integrated Amplifier at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The Y-50 is a 2.1-channel network integrated amplifier from Onkyo's Muse Series (Osaka, Japan), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Unveiled at CES 2026 to mark Onkyo's 80th anniversary, the Muse Series is built on a fully digital circuit architecture powered by an MPS Axign Class D amplifier with high-current MOSFET output, delivering 125 W per channel (8 ohms, 20 Hz to 20 kHz, 0.08% THD, FTC) and 250 W per channel (4 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7% THD) in a compact chassis measuring just 99 mm in height. The Y-50 features a 5.46-inch colour LCD display with analogue-style VU meter, HDMI input (8K/60, 4K/120, VRR) and HDMI ARC output, a discrete MM/MC phono stage, proprietary Onkyo Room EQ room calibration, and a streaming suite covering Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay 2, and Chromecast built-in. The San Kuzushi patterned ventilated top plate and aluminium front panel express Onkyo's Japanese craftmanship heritage in a thoroughly modern streaming hub.

MPS Axign Class D Amplification with MOSFET Output

The Y-50's amplification stage is built around a Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) Axign Class D module with high-current MOSFET output transistors, a technology chosen for its ability to deliver fast, precise, and controlled current at any load impedance. Class D amplification in the Muse Series uses a fully digital signal path from source to speaker, minimising the analogue stages where noise can accumulate and delivering consistent power across the rated 4 to 16 ohm speaker impedance range. The MPS Axign platform is precisely temperature-controlled to eliminate the need for a cooling fan entirely, which removes a significant source of mechanical noise from the listening environment and extends component longevity through stable thermal management. Despite the compact chassis, the Y-50 delivers 250 W per channel into 4 ohms and 125 W per channel into 8 ohms at FTC standard, providing the headroom to drive large floorstanding speakers at reference levels and bring out the dynamic range of demanding recordings.

Design, Display, and Japanese Craftsmanship

The Y-50 occupies a compact footprint of 350 x 99 x 337 mm, allowing it to fit where a conventional integrated amplifier cannot. The aluminium front panel provides exceptional rigidity, dampening speaker-induced vibration before it can reach the internal circuitry and degrade the signal. The 5.46-inch colour LCD display at the centre of the front panel shows the currently playing track, streaming service, source, and an analogue-style VU meter for a dynamic visual reading of output level. The Onkyo Controller app on iOS or Android mirrors all of these controls and settings remotely. The ventilated top plate carries the San Kuzushi pattern, a traditional Japanese design motif that simultaneously serves as a heat dissipation structure and a visual reference to Onkyo's 80 years of Japanese audio heritage. Audio-grade speaker binding posts provide superior contact and connection stability for any speaker cable termination type.

Connectivity, Room EQ, and Streaming

The Y-50 provides three pairs of RCA analogue inputs, a discrete MM/MC phono input for direct turntable connection, one HDMI input supporting 8K/60, 4K/120, VRR, QFT, ALLM, QMS, DSC, HDCP 2.3, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and SBTM for gaming consoles and media players, and one HDMI ARC output for television audio return. Coaxial and optical digital inputs cover CD players and other disc sources, while a USB-A port enables local storage playback from a flash drive. A subwoofer output and headphone output complete the array. Onkyo Room EQ is a proprietary room calibration system developed specifically for the Muse Series, using a measurement microphone to analyse the listening environment and apply sound-field correction optimised for the room and speaker placement. Network streaming is delivered via dual-band Wi-Fi and Ethernet, with Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Music Server support built in. Bluetooth 5 with SBC and AAC provides wireless audio from smartphones and tablets.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Onkyo Muse Y-50?

The Onkyo Muse Y-50 is a 2.1-channel network integrated amplifier from the Muse Series, launched at CES 2026 to mark Onkyo's 80th anniversary. It delivers 125 W per channel (8 ohms, FTC) and 250 W per channel (4 ohms) through an MPS Axign Class D amplifier with MOSFET output, a 5.46-inch colour LCD display, proprietary Onkyo Room EQ, MM/MC phono, HDMI input with 8K/60 support, and built-in Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay 2, and Google Cast. It is available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada.

How does the Onkyo Muse Y-50 compare to the WiiM Amp Ultra or Marantz M1?

The Y-50 delivers clear power advantages over the WiiM Amp Ultra and Marantz M1 with 250 W per channel into 4 ohms versus the WiiM's 120 W and the Marantz M1's 100 W, making it significantly better suited to driving large or demanding floorstanding speakers at reference levels. The Y-50's 5.46-inch colour LCD with analogue VU meter provides a richer local display experience than either competitor offers, and its MM/MC phono stage with support for both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges extends turntable compatibility beyond what the WiiM Amp Ultra provides. The HDMI input with 8K/60, 4K/120, VRR, and ALLM for gaming consoles is an unusual differentiator in this product category that neither the WiiM nor the Marantz M1 offers in the same form.

Can the Onkyo Muse Y-50 connect to a turntable directly?

Yes, the Y-50 includes a dedicated MM/MC phono input compatible with both moving magnet and moving coil turntable cartridges, allowing direct connection from any standard or audiophile turntable without a separate phono preamplifier. This is a relatively rare feature in compact streaming integrated amplifiers at this price point and makes the Y-50 a strong choice for listeners building a system around both vinyl and streaming.

What is the Axign Class D amplifier technology in the Y-50?

The MPS Axign Class D module used in the Y-50 is a high-current, fully digital amplifier platform built around MOSFET output transistors, developed by Monolithic Power Systems. Class D amplification uses a pulse-width modulation approach to switch the output transistors rapidly between on and off states, which is highly efficient compared to Class AB and generates significantly less heat, enabling the Y-50's fan-less, compact design. The MOSFET output transistors in the Axign implementation are selected for their fast switching speed and linear current delivery, which the MPS platform optimises for audio fidelity rather than general-purpose power conversion, resulting in a fast and precise sound with a full-range dynamic presentation.

What streaming platforms are built into the Y-50?

The Y-50 has Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay 2, Google Cast (Chromecast), and Music Server streaming built in, accessible via Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or the Onkyo Controller app on iOS or Android. Bluetooth with SBC and AAC provides an additional wireless streaming path from smartphones and tablets. Voice control via Google Assistant and Apple Siri is supported with compatible third-party smart home devices.

Does the Onkyo Muse Y-50 support gaming consoles?

Yes, the Y-50's HDMI input supports PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X gaming features including 4K at 120 Hz, 8K at 60 Hz, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Quick Frame Transport (QFT), Display Stream Compression (DSC), Quick Media Switching (QMS), Source-Based Tone Mapping (SBTM), HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HDCP 2.3. This makes the Y-50 capable of serving as a stereo audio hub for a gaming setup without a dedicated AV receiver.

Where can I buy the Onkyo Muse Y-50 in Toronto or Canada?

The Onkyo Muse Y-50 is available at Vinyl Sound, an authorised Onkyo dealer in Toronto, Canada. Vinyl Sound carries the Onkyo Muse Series alongside the Icon Series and the full Onkyo receiver lineup, and can provide in-store demonstration, Room EQ calibration guidance, and expert advice on speaker matching for the Y-50's 250 W Class D amplifier.

Pretty Darn Good
Format: Kindle
So I’ve been on a omega kick and this definitely hit the spot. Madison was frustrating at times with how she acted towards Lucas, Gray, and Rian. It was like she said towards the end, she didn’t believe she deserved nice things. It would have been nice to hear from her best friends again. They kind of were there in the beginning and the gone except for mention of text messages received from them. I feel like her friends would have been great help in encouraging Madison to go with the pack and never give Brent another chance because he was toxic. I loved Rian. His personality was awesome. His humor. His ability to make Madison comfortable whenever she was feeling overwhelmed. And the fact he fell for her and she fell for him first. They are cute together. I do feel like Lucas was the odd man out though. Like Lucas didn’t develop as much of a relationship with Madison. I would have really liked to see more development in the relationship between them. It was also the same with him and Rian. There is really no relationship displayed. Most of the relationship being displayed is between Rian and Gray. Nevertheless, I loved reading about the dynamic that came to fruition during the entirety of this story. Madison finally got her happiness. And Brent finally got punched in the face. Everyone got exactly what they deserve.

Pack's Promise was okay but not great
Format: Kindle
Pack's Promise was okay but not great. I won't recommend it to anyone that I know. PRO: * Very likable characters * Lots of steamy scenes that are written very well * The spelling and grammar are good * The punctuation is good with the exception of using hyphens instead of commas. Lots of hyphens. Lots and lots of hyphens. CON: * Almost no interactions with any characters outside of Madison and the pack * Nearly no plot. They meet, get together for a heat, agree to make it permanent, done * Quite a few typos such as extraneous words, missing words and words out of order THINGS TO KNOW: * More steamy scenes than storytelling * A lot of MM & MMM, some MFMM during heat

Fluffy and Nice Omegaverse
Format: Kindle
… this would have made 5 stars but for 2 reasons. A.) there were quite a few typos; misspelled words, missing quotations, “the his” mistakes, and various signs that maybe a proofread would do good. B.) the writing was quite textbook. Late blooming omega is struggling with her new self, finds a absurdly wealthy pack of alphas, every thing is almost insta-love but she resists, then decides to love herself and let everyone be happy. Rian was my favourite (obviously the author’s favourite too because he got the most page time) but I wish we could see more of his CEO side? He went to work maybe ONCE the entire time. Gray was supposed to be the “growly one” but he turned out to be puppy dog. Lucas was a genius brainiac doctor - but also super alpha with an aggressive hindbrain with a breeding k*nk?? And then there was no actual “breeding”?? Spice 3/5 - normally omegaverse books are super high on messy smut but this was tamer. Romance 3/5 - insta-love that was then resisted because of personal hangup’s Plot 2/5 - weird paced head hopping, showing the same scene from different POV’s that made me feel like it was 2 steps backward, 1 step forward. Humour 4/5 - there were a dozen lines that genuinely made me chuckle out loud Would have been five stars but the lack of proofreading and the predictable plot made me unable to get up to ADORED IT level - four stars is still and official ENJOYED IT, y’all. This isn’t a bad rating. The “Club Heat” has intriguing possibilities so I’m going to give the second one a shot.

Fantastic writing and non-stop action
Format: Kindle
This is a promising, fantastic beginning to what will be a 4-book series. Some readers may be content to read only the first 2 books, but I think you'll find that the story is so good that you'll want to keep reading books 3 and 4. Book 1 is about omega Elvana's introduction to the "Starling" brothers and their search for another missing person, Kelly. It's a bit of a rocky start, with deception and betrayal a key element. Hardly an auspicious beginning. Each member has their own path and purpose in the pack. Their interactions and the resulting narrative are so well-written that I found it difficult to put down. There is a cliffhanger that will have you reaching for book 2 as you finish, so make sure you have it on hand.
