About the Author
J. Krishnamurti (1895–1986) was an influential Indian philosopher, speaker, and writer, known for his teachings on self-awareness, meditation, and the nature of human consciousness. Born in colonial India, Krishnamurti was discovered as a young boy by the Theosophical Society, who believed he was the "World Teacher." However, in 1929, he rejected this role and disbanded the organization that had supported him, choosing instead to speak independently on matters of human thought, freedom, and spiritual awakening.
Krishnamurti’s philosophy emphasized the importance of personal inquiry and direct experience over dogma or organized belief systems. He encouraged individuals to observe their thoughts and behaviors without judgment and to free themselves from societal conditioning, aiming for a life of true freedom and awareness. His work has had a lasting impact on fields such as psychology, education, and spirituality.
