Cultivated in the very same pristine fields as Marishi-Fuji — the tea that earned the Grand Gold Prize at the World Green Tea Contest 2025. This harvest reflects the same harmony of nature and craftsmanship that defines Japan’s finest teas.
What is Gyokuro?
Gyokuro, meaning “jade dew” is one of Japan’s most prestigious green teas.
Crafted from carefully selected first-flush leaves, it is shaded for 20–30 days before harvest, enhancing amino acids such as L-theanine, reducing astringency, and developing its signature sweetness and deep umami.
Made from select cultivars, Gyokuro reveals a vivid deep green, rich flavor, and a silky texture with subtle oceanic notes.
Its complexity and the precision behind its cultivation place Gyokuro at the pinnacle of Japanese tea.
Why mention "Altitude"?
Just like wine and coffee, the flavor of green tea is greatly influenced by elevation.
At altitudes below 200 meters, tea plants grow too quickly, often resulting in a flat and less refined taste.
At Phenimax, we carefully select only organic tea leaves grown above 200 meters, where the cool mountain air and day-night temperature variations nurture depth, aroma, and natural sweetness.
Experience the unique character of the land and the complex flavor of truly elevated tea in every sip.
Characteristics
As the hot water awakens the tea leaves, bring your nose close and inhale deeply—you’ll notice a naturally sweet aroma, reminiscent of freshly baked cookies. Rich umami and sweetness unfold on the palate, followed by a lingering, refreshing finish—hallmarks of Shizuoka-grown gyokuro.
